U11

We played our last group game last Tuesday evening in Athea against St.Kieran’s. We had 24 players available for the match and again we were able to field two even teams Athea Maroon and Athea White.

We played two games each 12minutes a-side and played very well in all four matches. The large support from Athea had a lot to cheer about as Athea played some lovely football, kicking some great scores and defending heroically at times. Great credit is due to both teams for the high standard of football played. Training will continue on Friday evenings and we hope to organise a Parish league before the season ends.

Athea Maroon: Tony Ambrose, Liam Dalton, Eoin Ahern, Daniel Hunt, Tadhg Hunt, Loren Healy, Patrick Healy, Aaron Hunt, Tom Mullane, Eoin Kenrick, Cathal Fitzgerald and John Ahern

Junior A Men’s

We bowed out of the Junior A Championship on Friday evening after a brave display from our boys. It was a tough game of football, with both sides fighting hard for scores. The match finished on a scoreline of Athea 0-07, Mountcollins 0-08. We will remain in Junior A for another year, but the foundations set this year will pay off in time. Huge thanks to the team and management for their dedication over the last few months, and for providing some excellent thrilling games throughout the league and championship. Best of luck to Mountcollins Gaa in their remaining games in the Championship.
