OUT AND ABOUT
Well it’s been a lovely few days over the past week or so with crowds flocking to whatever beach is nearest to them enjoying new found freedom with family and friends. And isn’t our own little country one of the nicest in the world if you get the weather. No high extremes of temperature not like some places that have to have the air-conditioning on for the duration of the summer months, so enjoy it while it lasts as it seems we are to have rain again this week.
Sincere congrats to Caroline Murphy, daughter of Betty and Charlie, of Hillside Drive, who has become engaged to Neilius O’Sullivan, son of Anne-Marie and Connie, of Lower Athea. Best wishes to them both on this happiest of occasions.
The death has taken place in England of Catherine Forde -nee Hayes formerly of Glenagragra and Dirreen Athea.
Also Denis Mullane who recently passed away in Scotland, brother of Nora Hogan Templeathea. Sincere sympathy to their families and relations. May they rest in peace.
A lovely celebratory mass was said here in Athea on Saturday evening last by Fr. Duggan, to remember Fr. Michael Moroney who was ordained 50 years to the priesthood and is now in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for many years. There are some lovely photos in front of the altar depicting various aspects of his life. Mike Hayes a near neighbour gave an insight into his life as did his sister Siobhán. He hopes to make the journey home in July. We congratulate him on his GOLDEN JUBILEE and send good wishes from his home parish.
Unfortunately we aren’t going to be able to make the trip to Lourdes again this year, however the Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage takes place this week from 17th-20th with all liturgies streamed online. Hopefully this time next year we will be preparing to go, all going well.
Thought for this week:-
The 3Cs of LIFE
CHOICES – CHANCES – CHANGES.
You must make THE CHOICE
To take A CHANCE
If you want anything in Life to CHANGE.
