Registration Evening

Munster Schools ‘C’ Final
Huge congratulations to Tarbert Comprehensive on winning the Munster Schools C cup on Saturday last. Well done to all involved especially to Evan Curry, Callum Buckley and James Broderick (Athea GAA), and Stephen Kearney (grandson of Timmy Woulfe).  Final score Tarbert Comp 2-11 Bantry 1-13. The team will be playing the Leinster winners in the All Ireland semi final.

County Teams
The club was well represented last weekend on the county teams at a number of ages. Again Rebecca Collins lined out at wing forward against Tipperary. Geraldine Carmody was between the posts on Sunday when the U16 B team saw off a strong Waterford team.
Grace Hunt and Maeve Murphy lined out with the U16A team against Waterford and Kayla Sheehy and the Limerick U14 team continued their preparation with a challenge match away to Carlow. Well done girls, we are so proud of ye’re dedication to the county

The monies received are used towards: maintenance and development of facilities, playing equipment, affiliation fees, insurance, utility bills, team preparation and other administrative costs.
Please note – All players, coaches, mentors and committee members need to be registered before participating in training/matches for the upcoming year. Players must be covered by the Player Injury Sport fund, in the event of any injuries whilst representing the club. Guardians must ensure that all Youth players are registered.

Appeal to Dog Owners
It has been brought to our attention that dogs are being left off their leads at the walking track. We are asking Dog owners to please keep their pets on leads at all times and to be mindful of other track users and their pets. Also we are appealing to dog owners to continue to clean up after your dog, with a bin provided near the club house. We will continue to monitor this situation.
Club Limerick Draw
Tickets are now on sale for the Annual Club Limerick Draw (formally Mackey Draw). Please be aware the following applies to the sale of Limerick Club Draw Tickets –
1. 50% of the proceeds of ticket sales goes to Athea GAA
2. The more Club Limerick Draw tickets we sell, the more Limerick County Football/Hurling Championship Final tickets the Club will have access to
3. The Draw supports the development of the Limerick County Teams.
There will be one draw a month for 10 months made up of one €10,000 monthly prize, 28 Additional Cash Prizes each Month plus an exclusive STAR Prize.
Tickets are currently on sale through Club Force at a discounted price of €90 until March 1st.

Athea GAA & LGFA Dinner Dance

This is the last week to pick up tickets to the much anticipated Dinner Dance on March 1st. These will be available to purchase on Tuesday 20th from 6.45-7.15 and Thursday 22nd from 7-8 at the club house. The Kelts will be entertainment followed by DJ excel late into the night.

Athea GMAO
Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others will resume again this year. If there is anyone who would like to join for an hour of fun, friendship, exercise and laughter please contact Jacqueline O’Connor on 086 0670091. The group would love to see some new faces, and the regulars returning to the field.
Split the Bucket
Congratulations to Mary & Rachel O Connor, who were last week’s winners of Split the Bucket, going home with the grand total of €426. The next draw will take place on Monday February 26th. Envelopes can be purchased at Dick Whites, Collins Shop, O’ Riordan’s Pharmacy, Athea Credit Union, Brown Joes, Batts,Bingo at Con Colbert Hall on Friday nights, Chinese Takeaway, Gables Grill and during events at Pairc na nGael. Thanks to everyone for your continued support.

Ireland Lights Up
In conjunction with Operation Transformation, Athea GAA will host the Annual Ireland Lights Up Walks on Thursday evenings from 7pm – 8pm, running from January 11th – February 29th. Those who sign up & attend the full 8 week programme will be entered into a draw to win 1 of 30 free Healthy Ireland Goodie Bags.
Clothes Collection
The ladies club are delighted to announce our next clothes collection will be Monday 13th May. Start that spring clean early. Do not discard any clothes material in household waste. Drop them into a bag and drop them up to the field. Funds generated from this collection goes to buying new equipment for the season ahead.
