BLESSINGS TO WELCOME MAY
May you be Happy, May you be Well.
May you be Safe, May you find comfort.
May you have Strength, May you have Courage.
May you have Healing, May you have Peace.
May you have Joy, May you be filled with loving Kindness.
May you be Blessed Today and Always.
At last MAY is with us and isn’t it great to have a little bit of Heat in One’s Bones at last.
Long may it continue and I bet you were all out on MAY EVE sprinkling the Holy Water, the Old Tradition of long ago to keep the homes and land etc. free of evil spirits.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of John Moore who passed away in Adare this week. John was a native of Athea and will be remembered by many in his youth here in Athea. His burial took place after Requiem Mass on Tuesday which was celebrated in Adare church. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
We wish all the boys and girls who are receiving their 1st Holy Communion this Saturday all the very best for their very Special Day, hoping the Sun shines out for them all.
I heard on the news today that 2 guards a week are quitting the force due to Bullying, Stress and Heavy workloads dealing with Drugs, Abuse and a whole lot more. God be with the days when if you saw a guard walking towards you, you would nearly be afraid to open your mouth, how times have changed.
The Athea GAA Celebration Day at the hall on Monday – Bank Holiday was a really lovely Day. Both Johnny Mullane and Timmy Woulfe were honoured on their appointment as Joint Vice Presidents of the club and were presented with lovely plaques by Seamus McNamara, Chairman of the County Board, who is from Athea incidentally. Also Pat O’Sullivan and Paul Curry were both honoured by the club for their contribution to the club over the past number of years. John Hunt introduced the Celebration and gave a low down on each of those being honoured. Members of Athea Comhaltas provided some lovely music at the start. After the presentations everyone was treated to tea, cakes and all sorts of goodies. Thanks to them all for their hard work in catering for the crowd. Members of all the recipients families were present to enjoy the day with JOHNNY, PAT ,TIMMY and PAUL ,well done to them all.
In all it was a lovely Memorable Day.
