Intermediates:

The Intermediates travelled to Adare on Saturday last where they lined out against Adare (who incidentally are winners of the Senior Championship). Despite losing by 3 pts this was a very good performance considering the opposition’s status. The final score was (0-11) to (0-8) Div 2 of the league.

Mackey Draw:

Well, the Mackey draw is on the horizon with some great prizes. Please support both the Ladies and Men’s GAA Clubs by buying a ticket as they get a percentage of all sales. Further details from Paul Curry on 087-6501673 or Liz O’Sullivan on 087-6699783.

Executive Meeting:

Following an Executive meeting during the past week, topics up for discussion were fund-raising and also the Commemoration Night. Well, letters are being sent out to team members in the near future in the hope that as many players who were involved in the victories of those past games will be able to attend the 50 year celebration on October 5th at The Devon Inn. It should be a great night and who knows there may be a ‘celebrity’ face or two attending.

Also it is hoped that the fund-raising event which will take place in November will come in the form of Lip-Sync or something very similar – maybe Lip-to-The-Song.

Registration:

Many thanks to all those who have registered so far this year. If there is anyone who has yet to register please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 ASAP as all players need to be registered to be covered by insurance. The playing season and training will commence shortly. Details to follow.

Garda Vetting:

As we prepare ourselves for the New Year of training and matches we need to remind ALL our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 years old that they MUST be Garda Vetted.
It is a very easy process to go through. If any of our coaches are not Garda vetted they will not be allowed to coach any team until they have processed their details.
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 years of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children. Consent from a parent / Guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 & 18 years of age.
If you have received an email to confirm your clearance, please forward a copy of this email to Jacqueline as soon as possible so records are up to date.

If you have any problems you can contact Athea’s Child Welfare Officer, Jacqueline O’ Connor on 086-0670091.

Child Protection Workshop:

Many thanks to the twenty coaches/committee members who completed the child protection workshop in the clubhouse on Wednesday night last.
