Athea GAA

West Final:

The pitch up at Páirc na nGael here in Athea was in fine form on Saturday evening last for the U21s West Final between Shannon Gaels (the Glin/Ballyhahill combination) and Clann na Gael (the Castlemahon/Monagea/Knockaderry combination). A good crowd turned out to see the game, despite the very damp evening. However, it was a game of one side with the final score being in favour of Shannon Gaels 1-11 to the opposition’s scoring of just 2 pts.

The winning team was managed by John Walsh of Athea (better known as ‘The Dapper’). Well done to him and the winning side.

500 Club Draw:

The next leg of the ‘500 Club Draw’ will be held on this Saturday night at the Top of the Town. This will be the 6th of 8 draws – so you have 3 more chances left to win and it’s still not too late to spend €10 a draw ticket for the rest of the draws.

Training:

Training will start on this Tuesday night at 7.30 in the Utd Astro Turf, under the new management of Seamus O’Donnell, former Limerick goalkeeper. No doubt there will be a full turnout from the players.

Thanks:

Thanks to David O’Connor and Seamus Ahern for having the pitch in tip-top shape.

AGM:

The AGM of the club takes place on Sunday evening December 3rd at the Clubhouse at 6pm (check time again).

Coiste na nÓg:

If there is anyone interested in buying a donkey, please contact Jacqueline, Pat O’ Sullivan or John Hunt as there are only 36 donkeys for sale. There will be cash prizes on the night.

Our younger players accompanied by an adult are welcome and encouraged to attend on the night. This promises to be a great fun night out.

There will also be a prize for the best dressed lady and best dressed man. If you have any queries please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091.Your support on the night would be greatly appreciated.
