ALL GAMES WERE OFF AGAIN LAST WEEKEND DUE TO THE WEATHER. THERE WILL BE NO GAMES THIS COMING WEEKEND. THE NEXT GAMES WILL BE ON THE FIRST SATURDAY/SUNDAY, JANUARY 2nd3rd 2016.

U8 TRAINING

Training for the U8s has finished until after Christmas and will resume in early January. All parents/players will be notified of the recommencement date.

LAST MAN STANDING – WE HAVE A RESULT

Congratulations to Tadgh O’Connor and Tom Ambrose on reaching the final two in the Last Man Standing competition. Both are sharing the prize money with each getting €150 and not a bad sum coming up to Xmas. Well done to both our winners. It is by no means easy to reach this stage as you all know.

The Top of the Town are sponsoring our first of this season’s Last Man Standing Competitions and the club thanks them for their sponsorship. We also have a €50 sellers prize to the person that sells the winning line.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

Athea Utd Schoolboys would like to thank everybody who supported our Church Gate Collection last weekend, it is very much appreciated.

ATHEA UTD CHARITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT 2015

Following on from our very successful tournaments held over the last few years Athea Utd are once again organizing a charity tournament on the Astro Turf at The Vales on St Stephen’s Day. All proceeds raised will go to The Going Strong.

All ages welcome (but must be over 16 to participate). Those interested in playing can give their names along with the €10 entry to Kevin O’Keeffe, John Hunt, Pa Walsh, Tim O’Riordan or Steven McEnery.

The draws for the various teams will be made tonight, Wednesday, December 16th so if you want to play in the tournament get your name to any of the above a.s.a.p.

Presentations of trophies will take place at The Top of the Town. Refreshments will also be served. More details to follow.

SYMPATHY

The club extends its sympathies to Ger and Julie Finucane and family on the recent passing of Ger’s mother Joan Finucane. May She Rest In Peace.

There are two groups of six teams who will contest the Championship.

Group 2: St. Senans, Athea, Cappagh, Adare, Mountcollins & Castlemahon.

Table Quiz:

A date for your diaries, Athea Coiste na nÓg table quiz will take place in the Top of the Town on Monday night December 28th at 9pm. More details to follow in the coming weeks.

Calendar:

Our 2016 Calendar will be on sale shortly with loads and loads of pictures from the year gone by in Coiste na nÓg. These would make a lovely present for people both home and abroad.

Athea Gun Club

Athea Gun Club will hold their Fundraising Dance at the Top of the Town on Sunday, December 27th not the 28th as advertised.

Prizes as follows: 1st – €250 Hamper. 2nd – 32” TV. 3rd- €50 Hamper.

Tickets can be obtained from any member of the Gun Club
