Parish Festival Football Tournament:

As part of this year’s Parish festival Athea GAA Club will be hosting a football tournament in Páirc na nGael on Saturday August 1 at 1pm. All players, Minors, Junior Bs, Intermediates and Over 40’s are invited to take part or if there is anyone else interested in taking part, please contact Jacqueline on 086-0670091 before Friday. There will be refreshments and prize giving immediately after the tournament in Brown Joes Bar.

Athea GAA“Gone To The Dogs”:

To raise much needed funds for our proposed pitch developments we are holding a Race night at the Greyhound stadium in Tralee on Saturday August 15. Athea Ladies will also be celebrating their 25th Anniversary on the night. This will be a great night out for all the family including face painting, bouncing castle, best dressed lady, best dressed man, spot prizes, etc. Tickets are on sale at a cost of just €10 euro each and this includes entry into the races and entry into the Buster draw for €500. Children are free. All support would be greatly appreciated.

At the moment there is still an opportunity to sponsor a race at our race night.

Church Gate Collection: Saturday August 1 & Sunday August 2: The Club will take up our Annual Church Gate Collection at all masses this weekend. Your support as always would be greatly appreciated

Sunday August 9: Round 4:Intermediate Championship:

Athea will play Mungret/St.Pauls in the fourth round of the championship on Sunday August 9 in Askeaton at 2pm. All support would be greatly appreciated for our boys.

Intermediate Football Championship Draw 2015:

There are two groups of six teams who will contest the Championship.

Group 1: Claughaun, Feohanagh/Castlemahon, St.Senans, Mountcollins, Hospital/Herbertstown & Bruff.

Our U12s have a match at home to Granagh/Ballingarry this Thursday evening July 30. Players to be at the field for 6.15pm and all players must have gum shields. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Wednesday August 5: U14:

Our U14s have a match at home to Shamrock Gaels on Wednesday evening August 5. Players to be at the field for 6.45pm and all players must have gum shields. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Saturday August 8: U10:

Our U10s have a Regional Blitz in Mick Neville Park on Saturday morning August 8. Cars leaving the village at 9.45 am. All players must have gum shields.

Friday August 14: U8:

Our U8s have a Regional Blitz in Mick Neville Park on Friday evening August 14. Cars leaving the village at 6.15 pm. All players must have gum shields.


Friday July 24: U6, U8 & U10:

Training continues for U6s, U8s and U10s in Páirc na nGael this Friday evening July 24 at 6.30pm. All players must have gum shields.

Athea United Soccer


The FAI Summer Soccer School, hosted by Athea Utd AFC commenced at The Vales last Monday, July 27th and will run to this Friday, July 31st. The growth and popularity of soccer sees us with a record 99 participants on the camp this year which is up 30% on the numbers at last year’s camp.

Sportsworld are the sponsors of this years FAI Summer Soccer Schools with all participants receiving full kits, backpacks and footballs as well as learning skills and making new friends as well.

There will be training for the youths team this Wednesday evening, July 29th at The Vales at 6.30pm. We will also be registering youths players at training tonight.

There is no change to the cost of club registration from the 2014-15 season so the fees for the upcoming 2015-16 season are as follows
U/8s, U/10s & U/12s €20 per player.
U/14s €25 per player.
U/16s €30 per player.
Youths €35 per player.

There will again be a family discount for families of underage players and for each additional child this will be €10 extra.
For example a family with an U/8 player and an U/10 player the registration will be €30, a family with an U/16 player and an U/12 the registration will be €40 while a family with a youths player and an U/14 player will be €45

In line with club policy no player(s) will be allowed play for Athea Utd in the schoolboy league or junior league until they have their registration paid. All managers are to collect the respective registration and to implement this club policy.
Would all Junior players please take note that the registration fee for the coming 2015-16 season is €50.


The 2015/16 junior season commences on Friday, August 21st.


Pa Walsh is the club’s registrar for the coming 2015/16 season.

ATHEA PARISH FESTIVAL 2015 As part of the Athea Parish Festival we plan to run a junior soccer tournament at The Vales on next Monday, August 3rd (Bank Holiday Weekend). The format would be two semi finals and the final afterwards. Duration of games to be 30 minutes per half, straight to penalties in all games in the event of a draw. Presentations afterwards in Brown Joes Bar
