Matches:

Monday June 1: U14:

Our U14s played their second match of the league at home to Mungret/St. Pauls on Monday evening last. In a fairly evenly contested first half, it was Athea who opened the scoring, when Jack O’ Connor scored a ripper of a goal from twenty five yards out after great work by John Sexton. Jason Dillon and TJ White were having a great game at midfield setting up many attacks. Jamie O’Mahony, Brandon Finucane and John Sexton were working tirelessly in the backs. The opposition came back to score a goal and three points to take the lead. Just before half time John Sexton scored a great point to leave just two points between the teams and the half time score read Athea 1-01, Mungret/St. Pauls 1-03. In the second half, Mungret/St. Pauls opened the scoring with a point to extend their lead, we tried hard to break down their defense but found scores hard to come by. David O’Connor was very busy getting on the ball all over the field with Eoin Sheahan using his pace to good effect in the backs. Then mid-way through the half, the visitors scored three quick goals to kill off any chance we had to come back into the game. Our boys did not give up and tried hard until the final whistle with Jack O’Connor scoring a great point with his left leg late in the half. Final score Athea 1-02, Mungret/St. Pauls 4-04. Team: Evan Wallace, Eoin Sheahan, Alex McEldowney, Brandon Finucane, Thomas McEnery, John Sexton, Jamie O’Mahony, Jason Dillon, TJ White, David O’Connor, Jack O’Connor, Luke Gleeson, Brian English, Aidan Curry, Jack Hunt, Eoin O’Shea, Ryan Greaney, Colin Broderick, Padraig McMahon, Pauric Enright, TJ Hunt & Daire O’Shea.
