In 2008 we undertook a major development with the installation of a synthetic training area, s
known as ‘FIELDTURF’ and is the only one of its kind in Co. Limerick. And is approved to FIFA standards. There has being a hugh amount of interest from clubs, leagues,
companies in the years since and with the new season only weeks away now is the time to book your slot for either training or leisure as there has been a lot of interest in the past few weeks. The advice is not to delay and phone either Pat on (087)7934417 or Denis on(087)2069900 now as slots are very limited.

Matches:

Wednesday July 16: U14:

Athea 3-02  St Mary/Sean Finns 4-06
Our U14’s played St Mary/Sean Finns on Wednesday evening last in Páirc na nGael. We got off to a great start when Andy Ahern converted a penalty after Pierce O’ Brien was fouled in the square. The visitors got going after that and dominated for the rest of the half building up a big lead by half time. We were much improved in the second half as our backs tightened up and our midfield started to get on top. John Sexton tapped over for a great point after five minutes and soon after Jack O’ Connor was straight through on goals but was fouled in the square for a penalty. John Sexton stepped up and scored our second goal of the night from the spot. St Mary/Sean Finns hit back with a goal and a couple of points but Daniel McEldowney rose the white flag for Athea again. We tried hard to get scores but time was running out. A fine goal by Jack O’ Connor late on helped close the gap but the opposition held on to win on a score line of Athea 3-02, St Mary/Sean Finns 4-06.  Team:  Cathal O’ Brien, Danny Brady, Micheál Dalton, Joseph Dalton, Jamie O’ Mahony, John Sexton, David O’ Connor, Andy Ahern, Seamus Leahy, Luke Glasson, TJ White, Thomas McEnery, Andrew O’ Riordan, Jack O’ Connor, Pierce O’ Brien, Daniel McEldowney & Aidan Curry.

Thursday July 17th: U12:

Athea 4-07     Glin 3-10

Athea U12’s took on near neighbours Glin in Páirc na nGael on Thursday evening last. It was a lovely evening for football and it was Glin who got the better start scoring a goal and a few points. Athea’s only score in the first half came from the boot of Luke Gleeson when he scored a great point. We went in eleven points down at the break and a mountain to climb in the second half. The half time talk by the coaches worked wonders as this young team came out all guns blazing. A goal by Eoin O’ Shea was soon followed by a point from Michael Tierney. Both sides exchanged points but our defence stood strong, Danny Brady and Pierce O’ Brien were playing out of their skins. Aidan Curry was on hand to fist the ball to the net to narrow the gap. Glin responded with a goal and a couple of points but our team came back again. Luke Gleeson and Eoin O’ Shea scored a goal each. Aidan Curry tapped over two great points to leave just a point between the teams. Time was running out but a super point by Andrew O’ Riordan levelled the match to leave the final score Athea 4-07 Glin 3-10. Panel: Brandon Finucane, Pierce O’ Brien, Danny Brady, Alex McEldowney, Andrew O’ Riordan, Thomas McEnery, Luke Gleeson, Eoin O’ Shea, Jack Hunt, Sarah O’ Connor, Adam Byrne, Aidan Curry, Colin Broderick, Michael Tierney, Gavin Ambrose & Dermot Pierse.
