The O’Grady family is appearing in the Knockdown News a lot lately and this week is the turn of Ciara who recently received her award, in Wallace’s Bar in Glin for Glin Rovers FC Ladies Player of the Year. Well done to the glamorous Ciara.

The Full Moon Barn Dance last Saturday in aid of St. John’s Ward of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin was a great success with over 700 people attending. We will be told how much money was made when it has been counted. Great credit is due to the committee who has organised this event for the past 4 to 5 years and helped out a different charity each year. Mark and Conor Sheahan, Clounleharde had a great night on the Kiddies night on Friday. Mark is now finished with all treatments and enjoying a healthy life, thank God and all the staff in Our Lady’s Hospital. It is great to see him and his brother out on the lawn playing with their tractors and kicking ball.

As I write these notes it is confirmed that all Garth Brooks concerts will not now go ahead. What a fiasco from start to finish. It was like a lesson in how to make a mess of things and a huge disappointment to those who had bought tickets. Let us hope that blunders of such magnitude will not be repeated. Obviously there were a lot of “Unanswered Prayers” and Garth had not enough “Friends in Low Places” to help him be “More than a Memory” in“That Summer” of 2014.  “I’d rather have nothing” he says and “I don’t have to wonder anymore” now that “Ireland” has given me the “Cold Shoulder”. “For once in my life” I wanted you to “Squeeze me in” but “Go tell it on the Mountain” it’s going to be a “Silent Night” in Dublin in July and I am “Driftin Away”.
