Carers Week

The 8th National Carers Week will mark the contribution of Ireland’s family carers with more than 150 National events running from June 9th – 15th. The week is coordinated by Care Alliance Ireland, in partnership with nine other leading Irish organizations – The Alzheimer Society, The Carers Association, The Irish Cancer Society, Caring for Carers Ireland, The Disability Federation of Ireland, MS Ireland, Parkinsons Association of Ireland and The Irish Hospice Foundation. Sincere Sympathy

The recent death occurred of Sheila Lynch (nee O’Connor) Upper Athea, wife of the late Mick. She will be sorely missed by her son Danny, daughters Nora and Mary, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

National Sunflower Day

Recent Wedding

Congratulations and best wishes to Paul Collins, son of Pius and Margaret, and Audrey Galvin, daughter of Aiden and Kay, on their recent wedding at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Irremore, Listowel. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Maurice Brick. Bridesmaids were Ciara Cullen, Fiona Kitchen and Louise Galvin. Best man was Jamie Collins, Groomsmen were Tom Collins and Denis Collins. Flowergirls, Niamh Kitchen and Sarah Collins. First Reading: Sarah Moriarty, Second Reading: Amanda Harnett. A great day in glorious sunshine was had by all and celebrations began at The Malton Hotel in Killarney where there was a great night of music and dancing. Wishing Paul and Audrey many years of good health and happiness as they begin their married life together.

Congratulations

Many congratulations to the Limerick hurling team who beat Tipperary on Sunday in Thurles. They never gave up and fought to the bitter end. A great boost for Limerick hurling especially after they had been written off by the GAA pundits and the media.

Set Design Course

As part of the West Limerick Drama Initiative, West Limerick Resources will be offering a short set design course in Newcastle West. These courses will take place on Saturday 7th, 14th  and 21st June from 10am to 12 noon. The course is free of charge and open to those involved in community based drama in  the West Limerick area. Comhaltas Summer Camp

The Comhaltas Campa Samhraidh will take place at Halla Inse Bhán from July 21st-25th and will include music, singing, dancing in a most enjoyable way. It has been very successful over the past few years. Only a small number of places now remain to be filled. For further information contact 087-9654451.

Accord Counselling Service and Marriage Preparation Courses

Accord, Newcastle West, offers a safe, professional and confidential service for individuals and couples who are experiencing difficulties in their marriage and relationships. Appointments are arranged for day time or evening to suit client needs. They also deliver Marriage Preparation Courses for couples choosing to get married in the Catholic Church. They have availability on two remaining courses for this year, Saturday, September 6th and Saturday, November 15th.
