AWARDS NIGHT

Athea Utd will have its Annual Awards Night on this coming Friday night, June 14th at The Top of the Town with proceedings commencing at 9.30pm. There will be the players of the year awards while the U10s will receive their winners medals for winning the U10 Division 3 Shield last week. Food and refreshments will be provided while music will be by Tim Somers. See ye all there this coming Friday night.

AGM

Athea Utd will hold its 2013 Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 22nd  at 8.30pm at the Top of the Town (Function Room) as the Community Hall is unavailable on this date.

CONGRATS

The club would like to congratulate U14 player Sean Ryan who has been selected as a member of the 2013 Limerick Desmond Kennedy Cup squad that are currently playing in the University of Limerick. This is Seans second season being with the Kennedy Cup having being part of the 2012 squad along with his older brother James. Consistency and no little skill and determination last season and this season made Sean an obvious selection for UL this week and all at Athea Utd wish him and the league a very successful Kennedy Cup.

WELL DONE

The club would like to congratulate U10 player Andrew O’Riordan who was voted Limerick Desmond U10 Division 3 player of the year for 2013. Andrew, who captained our tens as they won the Division 3 Shield this season was a very consistent performer throughout the year and was also our top scorer and struck fear into many a defence. Andrew was a deserving winner and he received his award last Saturday night at The Limerick Desmond Schoolboys/Girls League Annual Awards in The Rathkeale House Hotel. All in the club here are very proud of Andrew and we eagerly look forward to more good things from this player in the coming seasons.

VICTORY SOCIAL

Athea Utd had a great season at junior level when winning three trophies, the As coming from behind in the league to win the title after a playoff while the Bs won the Division 3 League & Cup Double. This is historic in that it’s the first time a junior side in the club ever did the double though the feat has being achieved before an underage level. So to celebrate this seasons success the club will be holding a Victory Social in The Devon Inn Hotel, Templeglantine on Friday, July 19th. There will be a three course meal while music afterwards will be by DJ Donnacha. Guests to be seated for 7.30pm. Tickets only €25 and are available from club members. All are welcome. For ticket information etc contact Clare Ryan on (087)2809512 or Denis Murphy on (087)2069900.

JERSEYS

All underage managers are asked to return all playing jerseys from last season to Tim O’Riordan as soon as possible.

2013/2014 SEASON

We are now making plans for the 2013/14 season. The club, where it can cater for players, will be entering teams in the various underage divisions for next season. With this in mind the club are interested in persons interested in managing teams that the club will be catering for and entering in the LDSL for next season. Persons interested in being managers or indeed helping out in any way are asked to contact any member of the committee
