I extend sympathy to my neighbour Mary Finucane, whose sister Patti Nolan died in Maynooth recently. I also sympathise with two of my library colleagues Helena Flavin in Newcastlewest and Ann Prendiville in Abbeyfeale ; both of them lost their mothers this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Gerry Collins has a lovely saying “We are surrounded by greatness”. Well, this week I am surrounded by greatness. Congratulations to Ciara O’Grady, Glenbawn  (my neighbour to the left) who achieved a 1.1 in her final exams in her Bachelor of Business in Accounting in the GMIT, Co. Mayo. She got all A1’s in an honours degree.

Congratulations too to Carol Noonan, (my neighbour to the right) on achieving a Distinction in her Fetac Level 5 in Arts in Askeaton recently. Well done to both.

There is a lovely exhibition of Pencil Drawings in Glin library at the moment  by Gary Gould, originally from Jersey but living in Glin for the past few years. Worth seeing. He is selling them at very reasonable prices too.

It was great to see a feature in the Business section of the Sunday Independent last Sunday about Kearney’s Bakery. Continued success to Maura and Siobhán, two women whom I have great admiration for always.

The annual Novena in Limerick continues to attract large congregations this year as well as every year. The Church is full for some of the ten Masses a day. One can follow the novena online too which is great for those who may not be able to travel. www.novena.ie

Well done to Scoil Naomh Mhuire, Ballyhahill which raised its 5th Green Flag last Thursday. The younger classes had their school tour in O’Halloran’s Gardens and Pet Farm on Monday. Great to keep all these things local and use the facilities nearby rather than going on long jouneys.

Tell anyone who is going to the Clounleharde School Reunion on the 29th  that it begins at 7pm with Mass by Fr Mikie O’Connor. Keep praying for no rain and no midges!
