What a delight to see a blue sky and sun on this Tuesday morning as I write. To make it even more perfect the cuckoo is singing outside the window. Thank God, we are seeing some sign of summer – now we hope it lasts for more than two or three days.

Passing through Glin last Sunday morning it was nice to see the Corpus Christi procession in the square and brought back memories of the processions in Athea when we were children. It seems to be coming back into fashion again in some parishes.

There was a large gathering in Knockdown last week to remember and pray for Lucy who died in the UK recently. Fr O’Leary, Ballyhahill celebrated the Mass. It was an opportunity for her friends to meet and mourn her passing. May she rest in peace.

Sympathies are extended to the Langan and Lynch families on the death of Tom Lynch , originally Glasha, who died this past week in the loving care of the management  and staff of  Beechwood Nursing Home, Newcastlewest. Tom had lived happily for a long time in Dromcollogher. May he rest in peace.

Am I the only one who is upset at the proposed “Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill” which Enda and his government ministers are trying to push through for legislation in July. If it passes, then the direct and intentional killing of unborn children up to birth will be made legal in Ireland – the most liberal abortion regime of all the countries. Is this what we want? Is this what we wanted when we voted them in to power? If not let them know. It will be too late afterwards.  A great letter in the Monday’s Irish Independent by Martin Delaney sums it all up.
