Saint Kieran’s and Caherline finished level 1-12 each in Round 2 of the County Limerick Intermediate Hurling Championship at Mungret Gaelic Grounds on Friday 14th June. It was a difficult evening for hurling after a wet and windy day which left the playing surface slippery. Saint Kieran’s led by 1-7 to 1-5 at half-time and should have been further ahead for the possession they had.  It was more even in the second –half and the scores were tied at 1-10 each entering the closing stages. Caherline went ahead and Saint Kieran’s hit back with two points, only for their opponents to equalize from a late free.  In the week that Limerick defeated Tipperary in the Munster Championship questions need to be asked about the staging of the fixture. We witnessed a change of referee, umpires without white coats, and members from the clubs acting as linesmen. We need seven qualified and properly attired people to handle County Championship matches if we are serious about promoting our games. TEAM. John Greaney, Michael Windle, Brendan Mc Carthy, Billy Breen, Sean Windle, 0-1 Patrick Windle, Michael Flynn, Anthony Molyneaux, 0-3 JB Harnett, Mossie Shine, Johnny Mc Carthy, 0-2 Ray Cahill, Danny Collum, 1-3 Jonathan Ruttle, Ian Mackessy, 0-3 Sub Timmy Carroll.
