ATHEA COMMUNITY GAMES

U10 boy’s indoor 5 a-side soccer Sunday 20/01/2013

The U10 boys took part in the community games 5-a-side indoor soccer, played recently in Croagh Community Sports Complex. The boys battled well, they played Croagh/Kilfinny first, but unfortunately lost 8-2. Their second game was against Cappagh, were they improved greatly, but were unable to pull off a victory. Well done to all for taking part, and a thank-you to the coaches Mike Buckley & Sean O’Shea.

U13 Boys Soccer

Athea U13 indoor soccer team traveled to Croagh just before Christmas to take on Rathkeale, Drom/Broadford and Kileedy in the first round of the Community Games. Without any experience going into the matches the boys did very well scoring first in every match but unfortunately the experience of the other teams told in the finish. We improved with every match scoring some fantastic goals along with great defending but it wasn’t enough on the day. Panel: Cathal O’ Brien, Joseph Dalton, Andy Ahern, David O’ Sullivan, Seamus Leahy, John Sexton, Jack O” Connor, & David O Connor.
