‘Congratulations and Much More’

Many congratulations this week- Firstly we congratulate Maura Carroll, daughter of Joan and Donal, who on Friday last was married to Gerard Aherne, son of Breda and Seamus, here in Athea. A great day was enjoyed by everyone at The Devon Inn. All the best to them for the future.

Many congratulations also to Michael Brosnan, son of Eileen and Micheál, who became engaged to Maria O’Keeffe of Kilmorna over the weekend – here’s to their future.

Happy 21st birthday wishes are extended to Cillian O’Connor of Clash, son of Mary and Tom, who had a great party on Saturday night last at the Top of the Town.

Sue Kelly of Church Cross in Templeathea celebrated her 50th Birthday also at the weekend with a grand party held at her home attended by relatives and friends and also many family members travelled from England for the occasion.

To all those in the parish and surrounding areas who on Wednesday last received their long awaited Leaving Cert results congratulations and hopefully  at this stage they have all got their choices.

Well, this weekend sees the Annual Vintage Rally taking place her in Athea. all the vintage vehicles will be on display up at the Paddock and of course there will be great entertainment there too with ‘Big Maggie and Ivan’ – amusements for the kids and a dog show – indeed a great fun  day in store.

We are still collecting the few odd ‘bits and pieces’ for our Hall Scrap Fundraiser, so if you have anything else that you no longer have use for – we would be glad to have it, as we soon will be finalising this part of our fund-raiser. The fund-raising Concert for the Hall is well under preparation now and getting ready for September 10th when we hope you all will come along and support what promises to be a” hilarious” night  and a most entertaining night at the same time.

Well it’s that time of year when preparations are being made for ‘back to school’. At the beginning of the holidays one thought the summer would never end – but indeed it has – and now it’s back to “organisation”, “homework”, “lunches” and all that goes with school days.
