Athea Utd will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 25th in The Memorial Hall at 8.15pm and all are welcome.

Athea Outing

Mangerton Climb


All climbing enthusiasts are invited to climb Mangerton on Sunday, June 26th in aid of Athea Colbert Community Hall. This will be a fun family day out and sponsorship cards are available. A bus will leave Athea at 8.30 a.m. on the morning so if you want to avail of this please call Kathleen on 087-1233361.

Races 2011


The 10th annual Road Racing event takes place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July.

A big crowd attended  the launch on Sunday at The Gables, Athea where details of the weekend were revealed. This year there will be an 11 race programme with roads closing at 10 a.m. each day. Top riders from the Isle of Man TT races will be competing again this year for the top prize money of €5,000 in the grand final.

There will be a host of events going on over the weekend with and open air performance by ‘Mad for Road’ on the Friday evening at 8 p.m. in The Square. There will be lots of activities on the street with amusements and stalls and on the Sunday there will be free bouncy castles at the Paddock for all the family.

Friend’s of St. Ita’s Fundraiser

Donie and Liz with Dicky Dalton who won the pony, sponsored by the White brothers with Donie O’Sullivan at the Friends of St. Ita’s fundraiser at Donie’s Bar on Sunday June 5th

The fundraiser at Donie’s Bar on Sunday week realised €428 for the “Friends of St. Ita’s” . The 1st prize of a pony, kindly sponsored by the White Brothers of Coole West, was won by Dicky Dalton.

A hamper, sponsored by the bar, was won by Bertie Ahern who was the donor of 20 bags of turf which was won by Eamon Dowling.

A sincere thank you to all who helped in any way to make the night such a success.
