Unfortunately we do not benefit from the community funds which are being distributed in the area by Airtricity because , at the moment, we do not have a suitable project. The lease on the old Library has not been finalised but we hope to have a good application ready for next year. We are however in line for a substantial grant from Airtricity as soon as the Park wind Farm is re-started.

Church Gate Collection

Our annual Muintir na Tíre Church gate collection is coming up shortly and we appeal to the people of Athea to continue their generosity towards us as we get to keep ALL the proceeds. more news on this soon.

Tree Planting

At our last meeting Lal Browne asked if the trees which had died between the village and the G.A.A.  sportsfield could be reset. The good news is that we are now in a position to carry out this work. The erection of Townland Signs is continuing and is concentrated in the Glenagragra/Glasha/Knockdown area. This is  slow work and is very dependent  on good weather but we are gradually getting through it.
