BUY A BRICK FUNRAISER: Carrigkerry Playground/Sensory Garden Committee  launched their ‘Buy A Brick’ fundraiser on Easter Monday.  If you’d like to have a brick with your name/family name or in memory of someone special,  then please follow the link below to purchase or alternatively contact a member of the committee. It’s a one-off fee of €50 to have your brick added to the wall. A ‘’In Memory of Section’’ has been added where you can purchase a brick and dedicate it to a deceased loved one. The link was not working  properly but it has now been updated and is more user friendly. LOTTERY DRAW: The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery   draw took place on Monday  June 9.The numbers drawn were 1,10,13,17, and  there was no  winner of the €7,200 Jackpot. Congratulations to the five lucky dip winners who received  € 40 each, Tina Sheahan Kilcolman, Liam Flavin Carrigkerry, Margaret Brouder Carrigkerry, Liam Flavin Carrigkerry, Kay Ryan Ardagh. Next week’s  Jackpot will be €7,300. People can play online using club force on the club’s Facebook page, with 6pm on Monday evening the deadline. The tickets are also on sale at the usual outlets, and all support will be appreciated.  Both organisations wish to thank all the people for their continued support.

RADIO DRAW: Congratulations to Breda Reidy from Broadford, who won €210, in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday June 13. The tickets cost €2, or 3 for €5 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, (including Moloneys Carrigkerry,  and from the radio station.  All support will be appreciated. The station can be contacted at 069-66200 if people have news of interest to the West Limerick area.

GAELIC GAMES: Saint Kieran’s defeated Athea by 1-9 to 1-8 in the West Junior A Football Championship semi-final played at Ardagh on Tuesday June 10. Athea led by 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time. A last-minute goal won it for St Kieran’s. TEAM Con Enright, Michael Murphy, Shane Lynch, Mike Upton, James O’Connor, Anthony Mullins, Mikey Kelly, Conor Mc Mahon, Jack Mulqueen, Seamus Mangan, Cathal Mc Enery, Ray Cahill, Darragh Mc Mahon,  Brian Sheehan, Eoghan Sheehan. Subs John Doyle, Dan Duggan, Darragh Breen.

LADIES FOOTBALL: Limerick lost to Louth by 2-7 to 0-9 in the 2nd match in the All-Ireland Junior Ladies Football Championship  played at Doon on Sunday June 8.Sophie Hennessy and Captain  Róisín Ambrose (0-1) from the Old Mill club were members of the team. They will also play Sligo and  Derry in the group and the top two teams will progress to the semi-finals.

KENNEDY CUP: The Desmond League defeated   Donegal 2-0 at UL on Friday to win their first Under 14 Kennedy Cup on Friday June 13. Congratulations to Sean Walsh  from the Creeves Celtic club who was an influential  member of the team.

MUSEUM: The Irish Palatine Museum is now open for the 2025 summer season. It will be open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday’s from 10am to 1pm for the months of June, July and August. It tells the story of the Palatine people who came from Germany 300 years ago to settle in Rathkeale.

RAMBLING HOUSE:  A rambling house will be held at Ballyhahill Hall on Wednesday June 18, at 8.00pm and teas  will be served.  All musicians, singers, storytellers, dancers and listeners  are welcome to attend for a great night’s enjoyment.

RADIO CONCERT: West Limerick 102fm are holding a concert to mark the Station being on air for 20 plus years on Friday June 20, at the Longcourt House Hotel Newcastle West. The special guests include Denis Allen, Johnny Carroll, Big Maggie, Anthony Fitzmaurice, P.J. Murrihy  Billy O’Brien and Different Sounds. The doors open at 7.30pm, admission is €15, and all support will be appreciated.

SHOW: The Newcastle West show will be held on Sunday June 22, at Shangarry on the Abbeyfeale side of the town. A full programme of events is planned including  a display by the Newcastle West Vintage Club.

KNOCKFIERNA EVENTS: A walk and talk will be held at Knockfierna at 7.30pm on Saturday June 21, to mark the longest day of the year. Pat O’Donovan, Jim Mc Namara and Albert Nolan will talk about the hill history, fauna and flora during the walk.  St John’s Eve Monday June 23 will be marked in the Rambling House at 8pm, with a talk about the old traditions connected to that date. All are welcome to attend both events.

GREENWAY WALK: Limerick Wellbeing are holding a 5k/10k run on the Ardagh Greenway on Sunday June 22 commencing at 9am sharp. People can register on the Limerick  Sports Partnership Wellbeing site. The proceeds will go towards the Limerick Mental Health Association.

NOVENA: A Novena to the Sacred Heart will take place in  Robertstown Church from Wednesday June 25 to Friday June 27.

HERITAGE EVENTS: St Kieran’s Heritage Association are taking two-day trips in the coming month to Cobh, county Cork  to visit Spike Island and the Titanic visitor centre on Saturday June 28. On Saturday July 19, to Dublin to visit the Glasnevin  Cemetery and Collins Barracks. Contact 086-8060480 for the day’s itinerary and costs.

GARDEN FETE: The annual Rathfredagh Garden Fete will be held on Sunday July 6. The committee are asking people for donations of second-hand goods for the bric-a-brac and other stalls. Items can include jewellery, handbags, shoes, books, soft toys, CDs, DVDs, ornaments, household goods, etc. The items can be dropped off at Rathfredagh Cheshire Home.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE: Bishop Brendan Leahy will lead a Limerick Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine on Saturday, July 12. The  Coach will leave Newcastle West car park at 8.15am. Cost €25. To book contact Trish at the Parish Office NCW on 069-61816.

REILIG MHUIRE:  The annual Reilig Mhuire Mass will be celebrated in Askeaton on Sunday July 13, at 3pm. It would be appreciated if the graves of people without living relatives were attended to. All grave owners are invited to attend and pray for their deceased relatives.
