It is very quiet in the Parish this week now that all the drama is over and the stage in the Parish Hall is empty once again. The Field was very well received with lots of compliments to our director Eleanor McSweeney and to all the actors. Even the young children, who played a silent part at the beginning, were delighted with their stage debuts and wanted “to be on longer!” But it is time now to rest for the summer and see what will happen in the Autumn. In the meantime the AGM of the drama group takes place in the Parish Hall on Wednesday 14th at 7.30 pm. All welcome to attend

There should be lots of turf saved in this long spell of dry weather which is promised to last for a lot of the month of may. No doubt we will probably be looking for rain soon as “a wet and windy May fills the barns with corn and hay.”

This week sees the start of the Conclave to elect a new Pope. Let the work of the Holy Spirit begin. May whoever gets elected continue the work of Pope Francis who was a very humble man, who came through rough times in his youth.  I am reading his autobiography at the moment – HOPE – and in it he stresses the futility and evil of war and the promise of hope, no matter how bad things can get.

It is such a pleasure to have our shop back in Knockdown. It brings new life and energy to the area.

The First Holy communion Mass for Ballyhahill School will be on this coming Saturday at 10 am. There are only three Communicants – Áine Prendeville, Cleo Daly and Grace O’Keeffe. It looks like it will be a fine day for the occasion.
