Well, the Vintage Committee members can now relax and unwind after a very successful day in Knockdown on Sunday last. The fine dry day added to the lovely atmosphere. Of course the new shop was very much appreciated by the crowd also. There was a great turn out of cars and tractors which are always admired by the vintage enthusiasts. The usual spread of sandwiches and home baked goods was available free to all visitors. Well done to all concerned. I’m sure the names of all prizewinners from the raffle will be published soon.  The two charities Cystic Fibrosis and The Little Blue Heroes Foundation will be the beneficiaries of the day.

Congratulations to Louise O’Brien, The Hill, Ballyhahill on winning the €500 prize in the School “Bonus Ball” fundraiser for the month of March. Check out the Ballyhahill N.S. Parents Association page on FB to get more details of how to enter. €500 to be won every month. Entry fee  €20. It’s a good idea and raises much needed funds for the school.

Sympathies to Noreen FitzGerald, Glin and her daughter Nodlaig and family on the death of Willie on Monday last. Willie had been failing for some time. Paddy Doyle, too, passed away last weekend. Paddy, whose real name was Christopher Bambury was well known around the town. May they both rest in peace.

It’s the moment for which you’ve all been waiting. The Big Reveal! The local drama group Abha Bhán Players will stage THE FIELD by John B Keane in the Parish Hall, Ballyhahill on April 26th  27th, 29th and 30th – Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Details on bookings will be finalised later. Mark your calendar. The cast of 14, under the direction of Eleanor McSweeney,  have been putting in many hours of rehearsals to ensure that justice is done to this fine play. You will not be disappointed.

There will be no news from Knockdown next week as I am taking a week off to go adventuring and exploring Normandie with O’Callaghan Coaches. I’ll tell ye all about it on my return. Au revoir jusque là.
