Last week I mentioned that a group of lads from Shannon Gaels are picked for the Limerick county U14’s in football. I left out Jack Lonergon who joins Jimmy Mullane, Dan Healy, Noah Daly,  Tadhg Costello, William Delee, Harry Wallace and Jack Hallett. We congratulate them and wish them well in the future.

A great day was had in Ballyhahill Parish Hall last Sunday when the Gerald Griffins GAA wrenboys treated the senior citizens to a dinner and entertainment. It doesn’t seem long ago since I used to take my father to these events but considered myself too young but now I think it is lovely to meet up and chat with people one may not have seen all year. Paddy Quilligan supplied the music and coaxed everybody on to the floor for dancing. Thanks to the volunteers who served the dinner and tea and ensured that everybody had enough. Drinks were also offered and enjoyed by all. The next big occasion in the Hall will be the Abha Players production of THE FIELD at the end of March or beginning of April. Dates will be confirmed in due course.

The Knockdown shop is causing great excitement all week. I’m delighted to see the post box back too with stamps available in the shop. It is proving to be a lovely place to meet up with a friend for coffee and a chat. Open from 8am to 9 pm.
