MILK: Agriland spoke with the director of Dairy Industry Ireland,
Conor Mulvihill about the outlook of the Irish dairy industry in 2025.
Mulvihill admitted to the pressures that farmers have been under in
the last couple of years with regards to environmental and economic

MOUNT Mellary closing on 26th Jan 2025 after 192 years.
In 1831 the Irish and English monks were evicted from the monastery of
Melleray in Brittany and expelled from France. 64 of them arrived by
boat to Cobh on 1 December 1831 and from there they went to Rathmore,
where Fr Vincent Ryan had rented a house for them. Six months later,
on 30 May 1832, some of the monks came to Scrahan, 5km north of
Cappoquin, to establish Mount Melleray Abbey, but others remained at
Rathmore until 1837.

Air Chief Marshal Sir (Thomas) Neville Stack KCB CVO AFC (1919–1994)
was a senior Royal Air Force commander.
Early years, Stack was born on 19 October 1919 the son of aviation
pioneer T.N. Stack. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1935 as a flight
cadet at RAF College Cranwell.He gained a permanent commission on 29
July 1939 and passed out of the College with the Sword of Honour. He
spent his war service with Coastal Command serving on flying boats
until transferring to Transport Command in the late 1950s including a
tour as Deputy Captain of the Queen’s Flight.
Air Staff Officer
In 1967 he became commandant of the RAF College Cranwell before moving
on in 1970 as a representative with CENTO. In December 1972 he was
appointed as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command then
moved in the same role at RAF Strike Command. Between 1976 and 1978 he
was Air ADC to the Queen. From February 1976 he was Air Secretary
before he retired at his own request in 1978.
Civil life
On retirement for the air force he became a Gentleman Usher to the
Queen and then from 1989 and Extra Gentleman Usher. He also became a
Freeman of the City of London. Stack died in London on 26 January
1994.

Grave issues as to the payment of compensation tor pre-Truce damage
has arisen between the British and Irish Governments.
Mr. O’Higgins, Minister for Justice, crossed to London Thursday night
in connection with the matter, having first made a statement in An
Dail. He recalled that early In 1922 It was clearly agreed that each
government would pay for the destruction done by its own troops or
adherents
£6,000,000 Paid. Since then, he said, people with short memories had
been endeavouring to put a different construction on the agreement,
but the Executive Council would not stand for any other
interpretation.
The Minister Indicated that the Irish Government is also trying to
have established a tribunal to deal with cases not within the scope of
the Wood-Renton Commission, such as loot, commandeering etc

and I am in the middle.
Life is full of challenges and like everyone else, you faced them up.
Like Jack Kennedy that great Dingle-born jockey who has suffered six
leg breaks in his sporting career, you also broke legs.
No only the same leg twice and that time sure they didn’t know as much
as they know now so it took a full year before I got back playing.

January. Born in Holland, he joined the Passionist order and came to the

BLESS: How to Bless Your Home on the Feast of the Epiphany in 2025
On the feast of the Epiphany, many Catholics bless their homes by
writing the letters C, M, and B and the numbers of the year on the top
of their front door frame with chalk. This year, the sequence is: 20 +
C + M + B + 25
This combination of letters and numbers holds a special meaning.
The letters represent two different things. First, they stand for the
names of the three wise men: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar.
Secondly, they also represent the Latin blessing Christus mansionem
benedicat, which translates to “May Christ bless this house.”
The crosses between each figure signify our salvation through Christ.
