OUT AND ABOUT.
Hasn’t it been a joy these past few days with the lovely weather we have had ,in comparison to the Snow and ice of the previous week, it puts a PEP in one’s STEP as the saying goes .The Daffodils are starting to peep their heads above ground already ,and thankfully Spring is just around the corner. I’m sure everyone will agree with me time seems to absolutely fly the older we get, I suppose we should just stop wishing our lives away looking forward to the next season always and enjoy every day as it comes.
A great crowd as always attended the GAA —AGM at the hall on Sunday evening last and despite the many teams that got into finals this past year but didn’t win their final games it’s great to see boys and girls of all ages taking part in both Football and Hurling, keeping fit, making friends and doing their parish proud. All agreed the Walking Track is a huge asset to the pitch and is so safe and lit up early morning and late at night and is used by both young and the elderly. If you would like to become a member of the club and be a user of the track facilities its just 30 euro for the year, indeed money well spent for the upkeep of the facility. Team players of all ages pay their insurance to the club. Well done to all who give of their time and volunteer as coaches etc in all Parish Sports, it’s great .
Sincere congrats are extended to Margaret and Liz Horgan of Athea originally who Celebrated 25 years in their Bridal Boutique Business FINNESSE in Listowel at the weekend .It was great also to see some Athea Brides who had previously bought their dresses there all re-dressed up in their bridal gowns on the day all for a great cause ,and let me tell you none of them aged a day ,with their dresses fitting like a glove, continued success to Margaret and Liz, maybe I should resurrect my almost 55 years old dress—-only joking it would probably DISINTEGRATE at this stage.
A message from Fr Bowen who celebrated a Remembrance Mass on Friday night last here in Athea—-he said to thank everyone who attended the Mass as he had concelebrated many a Mass with the late Canon Kelly at the Altar of God here in Athea over the years . He said he went back to Limerick a happy man.
A Special Mass will also be Celebrated at a later date involving the Athea Community in Memory of Canon Kelly .R.I.P
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
