throughout the 10 weeks, the second group exhibited a notable
reduction in methane emissions after day 16 of introducing the

JUBILEE 2025, Year in the Church.

A Jubilee Year is held every twenty-five years. Pope Francis will
officially open the year by opening a Holy Door in St Peter’s Basilica
Rome on Christmas Eve. The beginning will be celebrated worldwide on
the following Sunday, 29th December Feast Day of the Holy Family in
every diocese worldwide, and thus at all our Masses that weekend. Pope
Francis has chosen the Jubilee theme “Pilgrims of Hope”. We are asked
to treat the year ahead as a year-long pilgrimage seeking together to
become more aware that truly Jesus Christ Our Saviour is with us each
day, – as our help, strength and guide. When we speak of ‘Hope’ we
mean ‘Hope in Jesus Christ’, Hope in our God, Father, Son and Spirit.

Pope Francis created 21 new cardinals in St. Peter’s Basilica on
Saturday, urging them to resist the “seduction of power” and instead
follow “the path of Jesus.”

“In spiritual life as in pastoral life, we risk focusing on what is
incidental and forgetting what is essential,” the pope cautioned. “Too
often, secondary things replace what is necessary, external
appearances overshadow what truly counts.”

ELECTRIC Planes; The world’s largest all-electric plane has completed
its maiden voyage, flying for 30 minutes in the skies above the US
state of Washington. Its safe landing in Moses Lake, about 300km
southeast of Seattle, is a milestone in a dream that’s been floating
about since the late 1800s – air travel powered by electricity. From
two French army officers strapping batteries to an airship in 1884 to
the prototypes, demonstrators and leisure craft that have been built
since, it’s been a long journey.

ROMA: On the basis of a decree issued by Heinrich Himmler on 16
December 1942, the deportation of some 23,000 Sinti and Roma from
throughout Europe begins in February. The destination of the
transports is a part of the killing centre Auschwitz-Birkenau that has
been designated by the SS as the “Gypsy camp”. Within a few months,
most die of hunger, disease, or acts of violence by the SS. Numerous
children fall victim to the experiments of SS camp doctor Josef
Mengele.

WINTER: Kari Leibowitz is a psychologist and the author of How to
Winter: Harness Your Mindset to Thrive on Cold, Dark, or Difficult
Days. She spent a year at the northernmost university in the world in
Tromsø, Norway, studying why people living in the Arctic, where the
sun doesn’t rise for two months, don’t suffer from seasonal depression
at the rates you might expect. Today on the show, Kari explains how
our expectations can create a nocebo effect that makes winter feel
worse than it needs to, why breaking winter into three distinct
sub-seasons can help us appreciate it more, how Nordic practices like
hygge can make darkness feel cozy rather than oppressive, and why
getting outside and staying social — even when it’s cold and dark —
are keys to thriving during the season.
