MARY BURGOYNE: The death has taken place of Mary Burgoyne (nee Doody), Norwich and formerly Knocknagun, Carrigkerry. She is predeceased by her husband Paddy. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St Boniface Catholic Church Norwich on Friday November 22, followed by burial in Norwich. Sympathy is extended to her daughter Bridget, brothers Johnny , Anthony, sisters Catherine, Theresa, Bridget, Ann and extended family members. May she rest in Peace.
NOEL WALSH: The death has occurred of Noel Walsh ”St Judes” Ballyclare, Ferbane, Offaly and formerly of Ardagh at Ferbane Care Centre on Friday November 29. Predeceased by parents Eileen, and Christopher, (former sergeant) brother Padraig, sister Dympna. Reposing at his home on Saturday from 3pm to 7pm. His Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Ferbane on Sunday at 11am. Burial took place afterwards in Kilrehan Cemetery. Sympathy to his wife Patsy, children Denise, Sandra, Kevin, Dermot, and extended family members. May he rest in Peace.
MASS TIME CHANGES: The Mass times for Ardagh/Carrigkerry parish from the weekend of November 30/December 1, are as follows: Ardagh Monday 9.30am,Friday 6.30pm, Saturday 6.30pm. Carrigkerry Tuesday 9.30am, Thursday 9.30am, Sunday 10.30am.
BURIAL GROUNDS: Ardagh old burial ground was awarded second place (€800) in the Ancient Category, Newcastle West Municipal District, in the annual Limerick Burial Grounds Awards, which were presented in the Community Centre Knockaderry on Wednesday November 13.
COPSE’S LIGHTS: The Copse family Glensharrold Christmas Light’s display is attracting good crowds. The charities to benefit this year will be Milford Hospice and the children’s Ark Unit UHL both based in Limerick City. The house can be located in Glensharrold, 2 miles from Carrigkerry village and 2 miles from the main Ardagh to Shanagolden road, turn off at Kilcolman cross. Eircode V94V6KC. All are welcome.
CÉILI THANKS: The organisers of the Set Céilí wish to thank all who attended the Community Centre Ardagh on Sunday November 24. Thanks to all who gave prizes for the raffle, donated food and helped out on the day. The proceeds go towards the St Kieran’s GAA Club new field development.
SOCCER NEWS: The Creeves Celtic club have four players representing the Desmond League in the Oscar Traynor Cup this season, Kevin Guina, Eoin Mc Enery, Tommy Dillane and Andrew White. Noel O’Donnell is part of the management team. Dylan Moloney from Newcastle West Town is also part of their panel. In their second match they defeated Clare 1-0 at home on Sunday November 24.
LOTTERY DRAW: The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery draw took place on Monday November 25.The numbers drawn were 10,12,16,29, and there was no winner of the €7,900 Jackpot. Congratulations to the five lucky dip winners who received € 40 each: Chuck Lee Dunganville, Brendan Hayes Monagea, Caroline Donovan Shanagolden, Vincent O’Doherty Kilrodane, Ardagh, Tom and Helen Nash Kilcornan. Next week’s Jackpot will be €8,000. People can play online using club force on the club’s Facebook page, with 6pm on Monday evening the deadline. The tickets are also on sale at the usual outlets, and all support will be appreciated. Both organisations wish to thank all the people for their continued support.
RADIO DRAW: Congratulations to Kathleen Sheehy Kilcolman, who won €465 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 double week draw, held on Friday November 29. The tickets cost € 2, or 3 for € 5 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, (including Moloneys Carrigkerry, and from the radio station. All support will be appreciated. CLUB DRAW: The Limerick GAA Club draw for November was held on Saturday 30 and announced during the Limerick Live 95fm sports show from 10am to 11am. Congratulations to Joe Hayes and Kieran Copse from the St Kieran’s GAA Club who won € 200 each. The entry fee for the draw is € 10, per month and € 21,000 will be given out in prize money each month. The top prize is €10,000 plus a star prize each month . To join contact the local St Kieran’s club members in person, or online through the Club force App with direct options available. The club will receive 50% of all membership received which is vital for the running of it over the year.

GAA AGM: St Kieran’s GAA Club are holding their annual general meeting in Ardagh Community Centre on Wednesday December 4, at 8.30pm. The club are holding their Board Na Nóg AGM on Friday December 6 in Ardagh Community Centre at 7.00pm. It would be nice to see some new faces attending and getting involved in the club.
VOLUNTARLY HOUSING: Ardagh Voluntary Housing Association will be holding their AGM in the Hall Ardagh on Thursday December 5, at 8pm. New members would be very welcome.
FILM CLUB: Newcastle West Film Club present ” The Holdovers” in the Desmond Complex Newcastle West on Friday December 6, at 8.00pm. Admission € 8 and refreshments available. All are welcome.
SINGING CLUB: West Limerick Singing Club will hold their December monthly session in the Ramble Inn Abbeyfeale on Friday December 6, at 8.30pm. The guest artist will be Theresa Walsh, and all are welcome.
SET CÉILÍ: A Set Céilí will be held in the hall Milford on Saturday December 7, from 9.00pm. It is a very popular venue for West Limerick dancers and a warm welcome awaits all. Music by Mountain Road Band and tea and treats served. Admission is € 10. All are welcome to attend.
AGM: Old Mill Ladies football club will hold their annual general meeting in the clubhouse on Tuesday December 10, at 8pm. New members are always welcome.
CREEVES FUNDRAISER: Creeves Celtic FC Santa in the Cabin takes place Thursday/Friday December 12/13,in the Thatch Bar Newbridge.
