LOTTERY DRAW: The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery draw took place on Monday October 28.The numbers drawn were 4,6,27,29, and there was no winner of the €7,500 Jackpot. Congratulations to the five lucky dip winners who received € 40 each: Kathleen Nolan Athea, Alex O’Sullivan c/o Dawn, John Paul Barrett Cahermoyle, Seamus Lordan Dromcollogher, Joan Copse Glensharrold. Next week’s Jackpot will be €7,600. People can play online using club force on the club’s Facebook page, with 6pm on Monday evening the deadline. The tickets are also on sale at the usual outlets, and all support will be appreciated. Both organisations wish to thank all the people for their continued support.
RADIO DRAW: Congratulations to Mike Barrett Newcastle West, who won €300 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday November 1. The tickets cost € 2, or 3 for € 5 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, (including Moloneys Carrigkerry, and from the radio station. All support will be appreciated. The station can be contacted at 069-66200 if people have news of interest to the West Limerick area.
SOCCER NEWS: Creeves Celtic defeated Rathkeale 3-2 at home in the Premier Division of the Desmond League on Sunday October 27. James Naughton, Kevin Guina and Diarmuid Noonan scored their goals. Carrig Celtic defeated Rathkeale B 5-0 at home in Division 2 with goals from Adam Bennett 2, Rat Brouder, Sean King and Noel Callanan. Kilcolman Rovers had no game and there were no matches played in the Desmond Ladies League.
NOVEMBER ROSARY: The Rosary is being recited on each Sunday of November in the three cemeteries in Newcastle West as follows: Famine Cemetery at 3pm, Calvary Cemetery 3.20pm, Churchtown Cemetery 3.40pm. The Rosary is being recited also in Loughill Cemetery at 2.30pm and Reilig Mhuire, Askeaton at 3pm each Sunday. The month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls.
CARD PLAYING: The card game continues each Wednesday evening at 8.30pm in the Flag Floor Glensharrold . Tea and treats served, and all are welcome.
CLOTHES COLLECTION: St Kieran’s GAA Club will hold a clothes collection on Saturday November 9, and Sunday November 10. Bags of re wearable clothes, paired shoes, belts, bags, bed linen(no duvets or pillows, ripped or soiled clothes), towels, curtains, soft toys, etc. Please bring donations in green or black refuse bags, to the community field Ardagh or the Dressing Rooms in Coolcappa. The club thanks all for their continued support.
COUNTY SCÓR: The County Limerick Scór na nÓg finals will be held at the Community Hall in Askeaton on Saturday November 9, at 4pm. The question time final will be held at 2pm.
FAIR DAY: The annual fair day takes place in Athea village on Saturday November 9. There will be livestock for sale, plus stalls on the street selling all goods/ clothes etc. A good day out weather permitting is looked forward to.
FITNESS CLASS: A fitness class will commence in Coolcappa Hall on Wednesday November 13, from 7-8pm, for 5 weeks. Pre booking is essential , contact Teresa on 087 2768730.
PRESENTATION: It is hoped to make a presentation to thank Fr. Michael Noonan for his years of service to the Ardagh/Carrigkerry parish after the 11am Mass in St Mary’s Church Carrigkerry on Sunday November 17. It will be held in Carrigkerry Community Centre, and all are welcome. A box for donations will be placed in both churches and all contributions will be most welcome. People can enclose their donation in a plain sealed envelope titled Fr. Noonan Presentation.
REMEMBERANCE MASS: The dates and venues for this November Remembrance Masses are St Mary’s Church Carrigkerry on Thursday November 21, at 7.30pm and St Molua’s Church Ardagh on Friday November 29 at 7.30pm. The Remembrance Mass in St Colman’s Church Kilcolman will be celebrated on Friday November 22,at 7.30pm.
SET CÉILÍ: A set Céilí will be held in Ardagh Parish Hall (V42F864) on Sunday November 24, from 2-30-5-30pm. Music by Donie Nolan and Taylors Cross Band, tea served, raffle for numerous spot prizes and admission is €10. The Céilí is in aid of St Kieran’s New Field Development Fund. The dancing will feature mainly sets, and a mix of social with waltz, Siege of Ennis, 2 hands etc. All support from the locality and outside areas will be greatly appreciated.
CEOL AN GHEIMHRIDH: Tournafulla village is the venue for this year’s Limerick Ceol an Gheimhridh Competition on Sunday November 24. Hosted by CCÉ Tuar an Fola the closing date for entries is Thursday November 14. The events are confined to Comhaltas members under 14 age categories and include music, song, dance, recitation, storytelling etc. The county Limerick Fleadh Cheoil will be held in Croom in 2025
IRISH RAMBLING HOUSE: The Irish Rambling House are holding their annual concert in Siamsa Tire Tralee on Wednesday November 29, at 8pm. The three-hour show will feature the cast members plus special guests Sean O’Sé, Elle Marie O ‘Dwyer, Caroline O’Callaghan, John Kinsella, Sonny Egan, Noel Joyce, Breen’s. Tickets cost € 31, each plus booking fee € 1.50, they can be booked on siamsatire.com or call the Box Office on 066-7123055. A great night’s entertainment is promised, and all are welcome.
