Ballyhahill Development has been doing great work in the village lately laying down a footpath from the four crosses down to the school. On top of that, street lighting has been installed. It is safer for those who like to take a walk at night.
We had another display of the Northern Lights during the week. While I can never see the vibrant colours which I see posted on Facebook by various people I was able to see the red and green hues as I looked in the direction of Shannon airport. It is a cause of great excitement as we used to think the lights were only seen in Iceland or Norway/Sweden. The night sky, lights or no lights, always held a fascination for me. Looking at those countless number of stars on a clear night reminds me that we are not alone in this vast space and gives me a sense of something holding all things together in harmony. If only the people on this little earth could hold each other in harmony … but we can keep hoping and wishing. Speaking of night lights I am lucky in where I live as I can sit in comfort in my own sitting room and see, through my front window, the lights of the planes landing and taking off in Shannon airport. I always wish them safe flights and safe landings. Then a little to the left of the airport is Aughinish where the people work night and day providing employment to many and I pray for their safety. It gives me a sense of all of us belonging together. All doing our own bit in our own way.
The Abha Bhán Players are getting together again to decide on its next production. We wait and see.
Meanwhile we look forward to the Athea Drama Group at the end of the month when it is putting on “Dear Mr O’Connor” on Thursday October 24th, Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th
