Friends and colleagues celebrate John Sheehy’s retirement as Caretaker of Killeaney soccer grounds

All in the Knockdown area will join me in wishing a very happy retirement to John Sheehy of Dromagarraun who has looked after the Killeaney soccer grounds for the past 6 years and kept the pitch in top condition. His friends and colleagues both local and from WLR gathered at the clubhouse on last Friday morning to share a cup of tea and cake and bid him farewell. John is looking forward to this change too and we know that his wife Helen and daughter Sharon will enjoy having him at home more often. Best of luck, John, from all in the Knockdown area.

I see that the Athea Drama group is staging a play in the Autumn. I look forward to that and no doubt there will be another next Spring. Well done to all involved.

As I write these words on a Monday night I am listening to George Langan on Cork Music Station. George keeps all his fans entertained on Saturdays and Mondays and it is a pleasure to tune in as he has a lovely selection of songs always.

I look forward to the Trump/Kamala debate. It will be interesting, I’m sure. God only knows what the outcome will be in November. I’m not the only one who agrees that the world is very troubled at the moment; we can only hope and pray ( and I believe we must pray) that it settles down before all Hell breaks loose.
