Part of letter found on above paper; Kenneally ? Your name causes me some worry
You may be a distant cousin of mine and again you may not. My grandfather was J.T. Kenneally, a native of Listowel, who emigrated to Valentia many moons ago. Leaving many kinsfolk in Listowel, and their children, like the children of all other Irish families, are scattered all over the world, so it could be that we are related one way or another. Suppose we meet at the Kerrymen’s ball at the
Manhattan Center, 34 St and Eight Ave N.Y.C, on Nov 1st and get straightened out. Confusion should be cleared up before it leads to more confusion. All the lads will be there, Why not you ?
Sincerely Yours Valentia Smith

FAMINE: Strzelecki Lecture Podcast
Paul (Paweł) Edmund Strzelecki was a Polish humanitarian, who, as the main agent of the British Relief Association during the Great Famine, developed a visionary and exceptionally effective mode of assistance: feeding starving children directly through the schools. At its peak in 1848, around 200,000 children from all denominations were being fed and clad, many of whom would have otherwise perished from hunger and disease.
If you missed last week’s lecture on Polish Strzelecki and the Great Irish Famine in the Royal Irish Academy, do not despair! The lecture has been recorded and is now available.
