BEST OF LUCK
Well, it’s that time of the year again when one realises it’s nearly re-opening time for all our schools, when all those who sat their Leaving Cert in June get ready to accept their results this Friday .Hopefully they will all get what they are looking for and even if they are somewhat disappointed there is always something out there for everyone.Whether it means repeating, taking a different path or whatever, it’s what makes one happy in life that’s most important. So we wish each and every one of them all the very best on Friday and here’s to the future.
Your last chance to purchase a ticket for the GAA 2024 draw is fast approaching with the 1st draw taking place before the end of August. Tickets are just 50 euro for 5 monthly draws with 2 bonus draws at Xmas and, having walked the track one evening last week, it was so good to see so many different teams training from the ladies to the young hurling teams ,and then the seniors who came out last for training .Sport is VITAL FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE it makes friendships, gives respect and keeps young people on the straight and narrow .
And with Ireland having one of the highest levels of obesity now it’s imperative our youth don’t fall into that bracket.
Sincere Sympathy is extended to the wife and family of the late P J Liston and to his brothers Haulie and John here in Athea and many relatives and friends on his passing last week in Ballyragget, Co Kilkenny where he resided. His remains were brought to Athea last Wednesday for Requiem Mass before burial took place in Holy Cross afterwards. Many coming to pay their last respects .
May The Light Of Heaven Be His.
A huge crowd attended the Feast of The Assumption Mass at the Blessed Well in Templeathea last week celebrating the 110th Anniversary of the dedication of the well by the women of Athea. It was concelebrated by Fr Russell and Canon Tony Mullins. Well done to all who organised the special evening.
A reminder that the 1974 CLASS REUNION of the Convent Girls School takes place on August 31 st in Abbeyfeale. All are welcome. Venue will be advertised .
Don’t forget to vote for Athea Tidy Towns who are Going For Gold again this year. We wish them all the very best in their endeavour.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
