FOOTPATH: Work is progressing on a new footpath in Carrigkerry village from the Grotto out the Glin Road. New footpaths are springing up in all villages and towns across the country and are very welcome as safety for pedestrians is vital, but why have they to be so wide at the expense of the roadway, making it very difficult for drivers of vehicles to pass each other by. The reason given is that it needs to be so wide so that 2 wheelchairs, buggies, etc need the width to pass each other by. The result is narrower roads and massive concrete paths and less parking available. It makes little sense to people I converse with.
COLLECTION THANKS: Deel Animal Rescue wish to thank all who supported their recent local church gate collections. The totals collected were, Ardagh € 151.20 and Carrigkerry € 107.20. Every cent collected goes to the animals in their care.
