It’s the time of year when many people are either going on holidays or planning to go. But, for those of us who cannot go too far away there are a lot of local attractions. Jim’s sister and husband are with us for a few days and so we took them to Foynes museum on Saturday. It was the perfect day for being inside due to the inclement weather. I was most pleasantly surprised to find that it is wheelchair friendly throughout the whole building and must give it top marks for everything from the start to finishing in the cafe. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the exhibits very informing and interesting. I will be recommending it to anybody I meet. It is a great amenity on our doorstep. While we were there it was quite busy with a large group of ICA women from Cappamore visiting. It was a nice surprise to meet up with some former ICA friends. During the past few days we got to walk the River Walk in Ballyhahill with the river in full flood, the Greenway from Barnagh and Barnagh Station house. And to finish off a lovely few days we took a seaweed bath in Ballybunion on Monday. I’ve always been promising to try one but up to now had not done so. It was very enjoyable. Jim’s family (from Meath) are very impressed with all we have to offer in West Limerick.
Meanwhile my adventurous daughter Lisa and her family flew to Morocco for a two week stay. Unfortunately she had a fall off a little step and ended up in hospital in Marakesh with a broken ankle which required surgery! She will be ok but a disaster on a holiday! I think my holiday was the better deal! Thankfully she is recovering .. still in Morocco.
The new shop was roofed last week. Progress is being made.
This is the 3rd anniversary of Jim coming home from hospital after his stroke. We are coping well, in spite of all. Thank God.
