WEDDING WISHES: Congratulations and best wishes in the future  to Michelle Hough Glenastar, Ardagh and David Minnock, Moate Westmeath who were married by Fr Richard Keane in Cratloe Church on Saturday June 8.  They held their reception  with family and friends in the Dromoland Inn.

COUNCIL ELECTION: Congratulations to Adam Teskey  Reens, Ardagh and the Fine Gael party on his re-election to Limerick County Council in the Adare/Rathkeale area.  Pat King Carrigkerry on his first venture into politics received a creditable 558 first preference votes in the Newcastle West area.  Our congratulations also to Michael Mc Namara on his selection as an MEP for the Ireland South Constituency. The family roots are in Ballyneety Kilbradern and Michael has been a TD on two occasions for County Clare from 2011 to 2016 and from 2020 to the present.

GAELIC GAMES: St Kieran’s defeated Mungret/St Pauls by 1-9 to 1-7 in the County Junior B Football League Final played at Askeaton on Thursday June 13. They trailed by 1-3 to 0-5 at half time. TEAM: Con Enright, Mike Upton, Ian Mackessy, Cillian Heffernan, Sean Long, Anthony Mullins, Tom Mc Mahon, Donie Nolan, Mikey Long, Cathal Mc Enery 0-2, James O’Connor, Jack Sullivan, Luke Corrigan 0-2, Oisin Ryan, Anthony Molyneaux 1-5. Subs Darragh Mc Mahon, Ray Cahill, Jack Mulqueen, Oisin Commane. Captain James O’Connor accepted the cup afterwards from Wayne Fitzgerald  representing the Limerick Football Board.

LADIES FOOTBALL: Tara Doyle from the Old Mill club was a member of the Limerick team defeated by Antrim 5-10 to 5-6 in the All-Ireland Under -14 Bronze Championship Final at Kinnegad on Saturday June 8. John Doyle from the Old Mill Club was the manager of the team.

PRIMARY GAME: Ella Hough Coolcappa NS was a member of the Limerick team that played in the Primary Game during the Munster Hurling Final in Thurles on Sunday June 9.

CAMOGIE NEWS:  St Kieran’s  Under 14 camogie team lost to Adare by 3-7 to 2-4 in the Shannon  Camogie League  semi-final in Coolcappa on Thursday June 13.

SOCCER NEWS: Kilcolman Rovers defeated Dromore  by 5-2 in the Munster Shield semi-final at Pallaskenry on  Sunday June 9. Aisling Kelly 2, Erin Hennessy, Gillian Musgrave and Marie Balfe scored the goals.

LOTTERY DRAW: The Ardagh Development Association and Saint Kieran’s GAA joint weekly lottery   draw took place on Monday June 10.The numbers drawn were 2,7,16,18, and  there was no  winner of the € 5,500 Jackpot. Congratulations to the five lucky dip winners who received  € 40 each: Madigan grandchildren c/o Timmy Lisgordan, Dan Ryan Coolacokera, Chris Madigan Kilcolman, Carmel Power Kilscannell, Erin Hennessy Carrigkerry. Next week’s  Jackpot will be € 5,600. People can play online using club force on the club’s Facebook page, with 6pm on Monday evening the deadline. The tickets are also on sale at the usual outlets, and all support will be appreciated.  Both organisations wish to thank all the people for their continued support.

RADIO DRAW: Congratulations to Janice Carrig Newcastle West who won € 240 in the West Limerick 102fm 50/50 draw, held on Friday June 14. The tickets cost € 2, or 3 for € 5 and they are available from volunteers, in local shops, (including Moloneys Carrigkerry,  and from the radio station.  All support will be appreciated. The station can be contacted at 069-66200 if people have news of interest to the West Limerick area.

FLAG FLOOR: The weekly music and set dancing session,  for the summer months at the Flag Floor Glensharrold, Carrigkerry  commenced on Tuesday June11. A first right turn past Carrigkerry on the Glin Road will get you to the old-style farmhouse. From the Glin/Ballyhahill road first left after Carrig Celtic FC Grounds. From 9pm to 11.30pm,teas are served,  and all are welcome.

UNDER 15 FEILE: St Kieran’s  Under 15 hurlers will be based in the Toomevara region in Tipperary  for the Féile Competition on Saturday June 22. They will be joined in Group 1 by Toomevara of Tipperary and Banner from Clare. The knockout fixtures  with Group 2 will follow the group matches. Best wishes to the players and  management during the competition.

CHARITY MATCH: Creeves Celtic  are holding a charity match at the Thatch Newbridge on Saturday June 22 at 2pm, in aid of Milford Care Centre. Creeves Celtic Ladies play Creeves  Celtic Legends for the Conghaile Cup. People can donate to raise funds for this very deserving cause  on their Facebook page.

FÉILE FUNDRAISER: Old Mill Ladies Under 15 football team will represent Limerick in the 2024 Féile na Gael in Moyle, Tipperary on Saturday June 29. It will be the third occasion for the club after competing in 1998 and 2014. The club are seeking donations to help cover the cost of their Féile journey. Any support will be greatly appreciated towards the cost of gear, transport and general expenses.

CEMETERY MASSES DATES: Mass will be celebrated in Shanagolden Cemetery on Sunday June 23, at 2pm, at Clouncagh new graveyard on Tuesday June 25, at 7.30pm, at Kilcolman Cemetery Rathkeale on Tuesday July 2, at 7.30pm, Borrigone Well on Thursday August 15, at 3pm, Coolcappa August 15, at 7.30pm, Clonagh Cemetery  on Sunday September 8, at 2pm.

RAMBLING HOUSE: A rambling house will be held at Ballyhahill Hall on Wednesday June 19, at 8.00pm. All musicians, singers, storytellers, dancers and listeners  are welcome to attend.  Ita’s rambling house will be held in the Desmond Complex Newcastle West on Friday June 21, at 8pm.  All entertainers are welcome to come along and join in the proceedings.

CLUB DRAW: The Limerick GAA Club draw for June will be held on  Saturday June 29 and announced during the Limerick Live 95fm sports show from 10am to 11am.The entry fee for  the draw is € 10, per month and € 21,000 will be given out in prize money each month. The first prize is € 10,000, 2nd prize € 3,000, 3rd prize € 2,000, 4th prize € 1,000, 5th prize is an exclusive star prize, ( a €500 voucher for Scanlan’s Menswear Newcastle West this month) and 4  prizes of € 500, four prizes € 250, and 17 prizes of € 100.
