FAITH: It’s so easy to react to circumstances. It’s so easy to over-react, in fact. But what we’re called to do, and hopefully what we learn to do, is respond. And we can only do that when we have a deep, abiding connection with God.

1973-12-15 Irish People
Composed And Dedicated
To The Memory Of Con Dee
By Frank Thoronton, Chicago
Far away from the Valley of Knockanure
An Irish Soldier lies,
On a green hillside on American soil
Near Chicago, Illinois;
Con Dee has joined his Comrade squad,
Up in Heaven’s Golden Shore,
Where Lyons and Walsh and Dalton trod,
They have met to part no more.
On an earlier day in Freedoms Fray,
They fought there side by side,
For a cause supreme on Ireland’s Green,
Three of those heroes died.
Con Dee, though badly wounded then.
Outdone the Blacks and Tans,
And just like all true Irish men,
The fight he carried on.
A Republic Grand for all the land,
Was his every wish and prayer,
As he thought of the boys who lost their
lives,
In that beautiful Kerry Vale.
God grant you rest all four of the best,
Your cause will still proceed,
And some day please, God, our Irish Sod,
Will be one, and truly freed.

Does cloud seeding even work?
Since the futuristic-sounding weather modification technique was introduced in the 1940s, it has been used regularly across the world, from the UAE to China to the United States, for a wide range of intended purposes. Mostly employed by governments grappling with drought, cloud seeding has even found itself a part of some of the biggest events in history, from clearing urban pollution and ensuring blue skies at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, to staving away Moscow-bound radioactive clouds in the wake of a nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, to hampering the movement of U.S. enemies during the war in Vietnam. (Weather modification in warfare has since been banned by the U.N.)
