       OUT AND ABOUT AGAIN.

Well I thought I wouldn’t get these few lines done at all this Monday night as electricity was off in our area and has just come on at 7 pm thankfully. It makes one realise how dependant we are on  light and heat, anyway here goes, and hopefully everyone had a nice Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed the extra hour sleep and, despite it being darker in the evening,  we will be delighted when the clocks go forward again when Spring arrives.

Double celebrations in the Higgins household in Glasha with Pat graduating from UL last week with a cert in Pastoral Ministry. Well done to him and this week his daughter Lorraine Senlon, who presently is CEO in Killeline Swimming Pool and Sports Complex, graduates in Longford  with her Ddegree in Research and Marketing, great achievements for them both.

Thanks to all who gave so generously to the Church gate collection at the weekend in aid of Epilepsy. A total of €303.40 was collected

Sincere sympathy is extended to Sandra O’Sullivan of Hillside Drive whose mother Joan Ahern of Carrigkerry went to her Eternal Reward  during the past week. Many paid their respects at Reidy’s Funeral Parlour and burial followed Requiem Mass on Friday last in Newcastlewest. May she rest in peace.  Sandra and Noel’s daughter married Kieran Daly here in Athea  on Saturday last which was difficult I’m sure for all the family and relatives but I’m sure Nicole  had her Nana looking down on her on her very special day. All had a lovely time at the Devon Inn Hotel. Congrats to the newly weds

Hopefully it will be a nice fine day this Saturday for The Fair of Athea. No doubt there will be lots of stalls and animals and a good atmosphere to add to the occasion where old friends meet up and reminisce about fairs gone by.

Well done once again to Mary T Mulvihill who recently retired from her undertakers business and headed off to Spain with her sister Josephine and while there reached the good age of 7O. As well as that she met with her Crumlin Friends who she has raised money with for over 20 years and will continue to do so collecting and helping sick children all over Ireland, raising huge amounts between them for the upkeep of specialised equipment, research and the upkeep of various wards .The two main organisers, Mary and Fiona, are now retiring after many years but Mary T will continue to fund raise and is very proud to be part of it all the time. The group walked part of The Camino last week as their fundraiser well done to all.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
