EU and Farmers; The president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has announced that the EU is to embark on a “strategic dialogue on the future of agriculture”.
She confirmed the move during her annual state of the EU speech today (Wednesday, September 13) at a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
It is her final “state of the union” speech before next year’s European Parliament elections.
During her address, von der Leyen expressed her gratitude to farmers for producing healthy food every day.

CANCER: Workshop for those post cancer treatment, Recovery Haven Kerry is delighted to facilitate a wonderful patient education workshop – 𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗦 – on Sept. 25th 11am-1.30pm for adults who are post cancer treatment. Jointly created by the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and the Irish Cancer Society (ICS), the workshop aims to bridge the gap in services between the end of active treatment and potentially, suitable longer-term support. GAS: Calgary-Canada based energy company Enbridge Inc. has announced a $14 billion deal to purchase three U.S. natural gas utilities.
Much of the LNG produced by the Woodfibre project, Canada will be purchased by BP Gas Marketing – 1.95 million tonnes per year. It is estimated that 800 workers will be employed in pipeline construction.

FULL Moon on the 29th.Recent heavy showers has made land, subject to poaching, with all the regulations and clouds from the EU. Confidence in farming is diminishing. Fine crop of plums and haws are now ripe. Wild flowers have almost disappeared.
BIRDS: Swallows and Starlings have been collecting in flocks in past weeks. Plenty of haws this year and blackberries are also plentiful. The crows are feasting on apples, nobody seems to harvest them, years ago all kinds of wild fruit were treasured, by young and old.
Foraging is a rewarding practice that you can do most anywhere, even in urban areas. Wild edibles that you can harvest include greens, mushrooms, berries, and roots.
It’s essential for beginners and experts alike to forage safely and responsibly. Beginners should always pair up with an experienced forager to learn about proper plant identification and other important practices.
Even though foraging takes patience, it’s a highly rewarding hobby for those who put in the time and effort.

HISTORY of St. John the Beloved School; In 1953, after two years of searching for a desirable site, his Excellency Archbishop E. J. Fitzmaurice and the Monsignor John J. Lynch decided to purchase a nine-acre farm on Milltown Road, which included a nine-room house. Boundaries of the proposed parish were loosely drawn up and some 500 families began congregating at the armoury on Kirkwood Highway for Sunday service. Bishop Fitzmaurice appointed Rev. John J. Sheehy, the founding pastor of the parish, to select a new name for the community, to organize a building program and to establish various parish committees. During this time, a contract for the design of the school was confirmed.

Never has a death in the wide parish of The Precious Blood Church occasioned -such widespread and sincere regret as did that of Miss Nettie Sugrue which took place on Thursday evening last. ‘The deceased lady had been ailing for only a few days, and her death came as a shock to her numerous friends and relations, which are very numerous around Chicago.
The funeral which took place on Sunday from 2439 W. Harrison St. to The Precious Blood Church, and from there to Mount Carmel, was very largely represented and spoke volumes for the respect and esteem in which the deceased lady was held—————————
DEATH: Recent Irish papers to hand record the death of Mrs. Ellen Hennessy, widow of the late Callaghan Hennessy, N.T., at her residence, The Cottage, Achonry, Ballymote, County Sligo, on April 11th.
The deceased was born in Muckross, Killarney, in the year 1834, and was 79 years of age.
Callaghan and Mrs. Hennessy were principal teachers of Ballylongford School in Kerry a number of years prior to their taking charge of the newly established school in Achonry.
Mrs. Hennessy retired from the teaching profession upwards of ten years ago, and was succeeded by her daughter, Ina. now Mrs. Carnly. Callaghan Hennessy died a few years after moving to Sligo.
He was the uncle of Mr. Denis Hennessy, vice-president of the Kerry- Men’s Association.

Today is the World day of prayer for migrants and refugees; Feast of St. Finbarr is celebrated on Monday 25th September, he left his hermitage at Gougán Barra to found his monastery and school where Cork city now stands. “Where Finbarr taught, let Munster learn”.
Feast of Ss. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael the archangels is celebrated on Friday 29th September. Michael is the protector of Christians, Gabriel brought the news to Mary that she was to be the mother of the Son of God, and in the old Testament Raphael guided Tobias on his journeys.
On Sept. 19, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of St. Januarius, bishop, martyr, and patron saint of Naples, Italy. Traditionally, on this day and on two other occasions a year, his blood, which is kept in a glass ampoule in the shape of a rounded cruet, liquifies.
It is believed the miracle has taken place since at least 1389, the first instance on record.
The liquefaction process sometimes takes hours or even days, and sometimes it does not happen at all

MADRID — It was at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima that a teen from Madrid said she received a miracle.
Jimena claims she regained her sight during World Youth Day, after receiving Communion at Fatima and praying to Our Lady of the Snows.
Now, a month later, her family spokesperson says she is sharing her story.
“She tells her experience and is very conscious saying that the protagonist of this event is Our Lady,” said Pilar González, Jimena’s teacher and tutor. “In other words, she is simply an instrument that Our Lady has used to make her power and intercession known to many people.”
Jimena lost 95% of her sight two years ago during a bout with myopia.
