   HERE AND THERE

The annual Coffee Morning in aid of Milford Hospice will take place here in the Hall as usual on this Thursday September 21st starting at 9 o clock. All donations for this very worthy cause would be greatly  received no matter how small. No doubt the organisers would also be grateful for any cake, buns tarts or indeed any baking. So, if you are on the school run or in the vicinity of the Hall, pop in.

Well the Listowel races have started and hopefully the weather won’t be too bad for the week. Wednesday is the big race day and of course Friday is the day that all the students look forward to with Saturday now being one of the favourite days where vintage dressing is the order of the Day  with many pre –loved suits , dresses etc being worn with a story behind each one. And we must send congratulations to Mary and Phillip Woulfe who on Sunday were the runners up in the Best Dressed Couple competition winning them a night away in The Lyrath Estate and, I must say, they looked amazing, well done to them.

Congrats are extended to Mary O’Connor of Markievicz Park who celebrated her 50th birthday along with her family and friends on Saturday night last all having a very enjoyable night.

Great news today we see that Brown Joe’s has been named  as the South-West winner of the Irish Pub Of The Year competition. Pubs from all parts of the country  were chosen as winners of their particular region so its nice that Athea is on The map, well done  to Brown Joes.

On Tuesday next the Tuesday Club for over 55s which will include Wellness and Self Discipline will start in the Hall  from 11.30-12.30  with chair aerobics, games and refreshments. Further information from Nicole on 087 9459971.

The death took place over the weekend of Anne Carroll of Templeathea after a relatively short illness. Many came to sympathise at the Family Home on Monday evening. Requiem mass on Tuesday was followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetry. Sincere sympathy is extended to her husband Ned, her sons Kieran and Declan, her sister, brother, grandchildren, many relatives and a large circle of friends .May the Light of Heaven be hers.

In the USA  they have a talk in schools called STRANGER -DANGER and I was looking at Reality TV recently about a little girl who was abducted while walking to school like she always did with her brother. Anyway, to make a long story short, even though she was only 7 years old she had the knowledge to describe to the police, after her ordeal, many key things about her abductor,  his accent, the fact that he had a tatoo of a snake on his arm, his height  and hair colour as well as other things about him which helped the Police to Capture him eventually. Maybe its these kind of things we should be telling our young people nowadays.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK—-

There are NO Problems that we can’t Solve Together

and very Few we can solve by ourselves.
