Pitch Development
There has been huge progress by Allmans Contractors on our training pitches with both having been levelled and thousands of meters of drains being installed in the last few days. The next task is to spread a carpet of special purpose sand over both areas followed by grass seeds. Hopefully the long delays caused by the wet weather in July is a thing of the past.
All Ireland Final
Hard luck to the Limerick ladies team v Down last Sunday. The club was delighted to send a full bus up in support. Despite the narrow defeat everyone had a great day out. Looking forward to next year already.

Hard luck to our U14’s who lost to Gerald Griffins 3-06 to 1-05 last Wednesday night. Despite missing a few regulars they played brillant from start to finish in hot conditions, never giving up. Next up on Wednesday night 16th August they will play Croom in Athea at 7 pm. Best of luck to the girls & management.

We played two challenge matches last week on Wednesday & Friday against Fr. Caseys and Shannon Gaels. Both games were really enjoyable with some great scores and excellent skills in both games and an ideal opportunity to get game time for all our players. We resume the second phase of the GoGames league next Tuesday August 15th away to Mountcollins at 6:45.
U13 Football:
Athea 1:10 v NCW 0:00
We played our final game of the league away to Newcastle West on Monday July 31st knowing a win was needed to secure a playoff place for the Championship semi-final. We played against a strong wind in the first half and found the NCW defence very hard to breakdown. We were lucky to lead at halftime by 0.5 to 0.0 as NCW hit the crossbar just before the halftime whistle. We started the second brightly but again NCW made us work for every score. The final score was Athea 1:10 to NCW 0:00.
Panel: Eoin Ahern, Tony Ambrose, Daniel Broderick, Jamie Brosnan, Paddy O’Connor, Jack Leahy, Cathal Fitzgerald, Mark Collins, Daniel Hunt, Aaron Broderick, Tom Mullane, Aaron Hunt, Tadhg Hunt, Joe Scanlon, Shane Ahern, Se Ahern, Liam Og Reidy, John Ahern, Nathan Ambrose, Kane Brouder.
