OUT AND ABOUT

Well the August Bank Holiday is over and despite our inclement weather experienced at he beginning of the school Summer Holidays it seemed the holidays were going to be so long and now all we see advertised is Back To School Uniforms, computers and supplies. In actual fact there was a great idea up the country, I cant remember where recently, where they organised people to give in uniforms in good condition to a hall there. There were 20 schools whose uniforms were brought to the hall by families who no longer needed them or they were gone too small. On a specified day the hall was open to the public and families came in and took whatever size uniform, shirt, trousers, skirt or whatever they wanted at no charge .With families struggling it was brilliant not to have to fork out a lot for a uniform. Indeed food for thought.

Sincere Congrats are extended to Maurice Hayes son of Breda and Pat of Lower Athea, who was married on Friday last to Kate Meagher in Westmeath. The wedding celebrations continued on Saturday and Sunday in Naas and Sunday in The Woodlands Adare for extended family members. A great weekend was enjoyed by everyone. Here’s to their happy future.

Happy special birthdays are wished to the following : Tom Riordan of Dirreen who celebrated his 70th birthday at Batts on Saturday night and to Colin Brouder of Templeathea  and Luke Gleeson of Gortnagross who had their 21st birthdays at Brown Joe’s also on Saturday night . All who attended including the birthday boys had a great night.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the following who have lost loved ones in recent days. Ellen White passed away in Cork at a great age recently, she was the sister of the late Jerry White and a much loved grand aunt of the O’Sullivan family who all took great care of her.

Bridie Sorohan of Gortnagross,  sister of Nancy Woulfe Gortnagross, passed away in the care of the staff at Beechwood Nursing Home .She was buried following requiem Mass on Tuesday in Abbeyfeale.

Grahame Gibbons went to his Eternal Reward in Milford Hospice over the weekend .Many paid their respects at the family home in Gortnagross on Monday evening .Cremation to take place at a later date .Sincere sympathy to his wife Kathy and daughters Corinne and Lorraine.

May they all rest in Eternal Peace.
