OUT AND ABOUT
A couple of congratulations this week, firstly a very Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary is extended to Joan and Donal Carroll of Dirreen as they celebrated their very special day with their family to mark the occasion, all having a lovely day. Here’s to many more years of health and happiness to them both.
Eamon (Dickey) Dalton celebrated his 50th birthday at Brown Joe’s on Saturday night last. All had an enjoyable night for his special birthday.
Congratulations are extended to all the Leaving Cert pupils in our parish and beyond who received their results this past week all doing extremely well and even if they didn’t get what they were expecting there’s always ways and means of eventually getting what they want. College places shortly will be the next big stepping stone for them and of course the usual scramble for accommodation etc that follows but eventually it all turns out for them all so hopefully there wont be too much panic and we remember those 3 students and one of their brothers who were so tragically killed last week as they went out to celebrate their great results, their dreams and aspirations blown out like a light bulb leaving their families, friends and indeed a whole community and indeed country shocked beyond disbelief.
Also we must not forget the 2 girls in Monaghan who weren’t around to collect their results also having been killed going to their Debs not so long ago. May they rest in eternal Peace.
Well I’m sure everyone enjoyed The Rose Of Tralee last week and this year anyone I met thought it was one of the best years. Many of them spoke openly about their challenges in life, so openly from dealing with Autism to having been bereft of their parents at a young age to many of life’s challenges that they had to deal with ,and did so very well and wasn’t it great to see the New York Rose winning and her mother being from Templeglantine and I’m sure the ‘Glantine Parish went all out to celebrate her great win.
Wishing all the pupils of both National and Secondary schools a safe return back to school especially those making the transition from National to Secondary which is a big step for them but they will all be back into routine in a short time and you know what it will be Xmas before we all know it. I wonder why are we always wishing our lives away .
