Lovely news: Congratulations to Maria Hayes and Pat on the birth of baby Syra Jane this past week. Grandparents Geraldine and John are obviously delighted with this new life in their family.
The good news this week is that Jim has recovered from his operation and is home again almost as goo as he was before the fall. So life has returned to the new normal, thankfully. He must be a tough man.
While he was in the hospital I had an interesting day out during the week with the Carer’s Association. A bu load of us left Limerick to visit Dáil Éireann and have a lovely lunch in the Dáil canteen. We didn’t meet any of the big names but we had a guide show us around Leinster House and give us some of the history. I enjoyed the experience
Fr Seamus Enright, whose family came from Clounleharde, has been Rector of the Redemptorist Fathers in Mount St. Alphonsus Church in Limerick city for the past 14 years and in that time has done Trojan work for the community. So much so that he has recently been named the Limerick Person of the Month for his efforts in spearheading a number of initiatives, both within the church, and the community. Fr Enright was instrumental in the success of the campaign of the Christmas Hamper Appeal and making sure that families had food on the table at Christmas. He was also involved in an International effort to help those who had been displaced by the war in Ukraine. His time in Limerick has now sadly come to an end as this month he will move to Dundalk to serve a new parish. We wish Fr Seamus, now 73 years, all the best in his new post.
