I apologise for lack of notes last week. The month of June, which I usually love, has passed in a haze of hospital visits and the loss of a very good friend. So hopefully July will bring more pleasant happenings.

Jim is in rehab in St. John’s Hospital recovering from his hip operation and doing well. He seems to be getting good care but the location of St. John’s is a bit of a pain. Crossing the city on a regular basis is not my favourite past-time. On the other hand it is not Jim’s favourite past-time being in there either:)

There was a large congregation at the month’s mind Mass for Marian Cummane last Friday night. It was nice for family, neighbours and friends to meet again in her memory; thanks to the family who had a lovely tea and refreshments afterwards.

It is great to hear that Maureen Long, who has been in hospital for some time, is due home this week. She will be well recovered for her grand-daughter Shauna’s wedding at the end of the month, please God.

A huge crowd attended the recent Rambling House in Ballyhahill. It is amazing how the crowd keeps coming every month but, of course, the pool of talent is endless! Participants range in age from 8 years to over 80 years. It is a great way to pass the night. Get well wishes to Big Maggie, a frequent visitor, who was saved from drowning in Lanzarotte last week. Water, though necessary for life, is so dangerous and people need to take a lot of care when in or near it.

Loughill/Ballyhahill Going Strong have arranged a day in Dingle and Slea Head next week. The bus is full I believe so all that is wanted now is a fine day. May it be so.

The Knockdown shop is sorely missed but the hope is that it is to be rebuilt. That is the best news I have for you this week.
