U7 Boys & Girls Football
Athea U7 footballers had their first blitz of the year hosted by Monagea GAA last Saturday morning. They played 3 matches vs Feoghane/Castlemahon, Mountcollins and Feenagh. Great fun had by all.Well done everyone. Our next match is an away blitz hosted by Askeaton Ballysteen Kilcornan on Saturday 20th May.

U13 Football League Rd 2
We played our first home game of the league on Thursday evening against Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan (ABK). It rained throughout the game making conditions difficult for both teams. Athea started strongly however we were not able to convert our dominance into scores and kicked several wides in the first half. The score at half time was Athea 1:03 to ABK 0:00 the highlight of which was a rocket of a goal from Liam Og Reidy who gathered the breaking ball on the
13 yard line and struck a powerful shot to the roof of the net. Eventually in the second half we got to grips with the conditions and were more accurate in front of goals with some great scores from
Aaron Hunt, Shane Ahern and Mark Collins. The match finished Athea 3:06 to ABK 0:00 with ABK battling until the end and making Athea work hard for every score. Athea had great performance on
the evening from Jack Leahy, Tony Ambrose & Liam Og Reidy and the introduction of 5 subs in the second half also had a positive impact on the game with Jo Scanlon & Eoin Ahern playing excellently when introduced.
Panel: Tom Mullane, Jamie Brosnan, Kane Brouder, Paddy O’Connor, Cathal Fitzgerald, Jack Leahy, Tony Ambrose, Mark Collins, Daniel Hunt, Aaron Hunt, Aaron Broderick, Tadhg Hunt, Conor Leach, John Ahern, Liam Og Reidy, Jo Scanlon, Eoin Ahern, Se Ahern, Nathan Ambrose, Shane Ahern. Our next match is away to Monagea on May 18th

Athea Junior Men’s

Athea travelled to Cappagh on Monday evening last in search of their first win of the league. They were narrowly defeated on a score line of Athea 0-12 Cappagh 2-07. There were many positives to take away from the game, with the group beginning to settle, and the new comers to the team finding their confidence and showing their skill. Athea’s next match will be against Gerald Griffins in Ballyhahill on Sunday May 13th at 7.30pm.
