COSTA  DEL IRLANDE

Well what weather we have been experiencing over the past few days, and by all accounts it’s set to continue for another while, and isn’t it wonderful, making it so much easier for the farmers doing their silage, for everyone doing their turf in the bogs, for those on holidays, one could be in a foreign country, and in Spain last week it rained floods for days with deluges forcing holidaymakers to return home even. And isn’t Ireland one of the nicest places in the World to be with this  glorious weather, who would want to be anywhere else.

Sincere congrats are extended to Donal and Carmel Woulfe of Cratloe on the birth of their new little baby boy they are naming Charlie. Wishing them all the very best with their new little bundle.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Kevin Stapleton, formerly of Colbert St., and son of the late Tessie and Kevin whose daughter Leanne has passed away in America at a young age. Sympathy also to all the Stapleton family here in Ireland. May she rest in peace.

A lovely Confirmation ceremony took place on Thursday last here in Athea with Bishop Brendan Leahy performing the ceremony with Canon Tony Mullins, Fr. Willie Russell and Fr. Brendan Duggan all in attendance. The church was looking beautiful for the ceremony  and of course the altar as always was exceptional,  decorated so lovely with flowers  etc. Well done to everyone who made the day so special  for all those being confirmed.

At the time of writing we have just heard of the passing of Connie Sullivan of Lower Athea who was in his 90s. Connie was to be seen every day on his tractor  going along the roads even up to lately, indeed a great achievement for someone his age. At this time there are no funeral arrangements yet, but we are thinking of his family who were all so close to Connie. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

We wish Denny and Mary T. Mulvihill all the very best as they retire shortly from their Undertaking Business after many years, in a few days time. Mary was a true Professional to say the least and many people often remarked how organised and well done the funerals were  done by Mary T. and Denny. Here’s to a Happy Retirement to them both in the next while.
