Guess the Weight Fundraiser
Following on from the hugely successful recent Scrap Metal Collection, Athea GAA are now offering you the opportunity to guess the overall weight of the metal collected. The price of each guess is €2, or three guesses for €5. Prizes up for grabs include; 1st Prize €100 cash sponsored by Joe Vaughan, 2nd Prize & 3rd Prize €50 vouchers for Horgan’s Garage, Athea sponsored by Maurice Horgan. Each guess needs to be in kgs (1 tonne = 1000kg). Guess cards are available at Collins Shop, Athea Credit Union, O’Riordan’s Pharmacy, Dick Whites and Brown Joe’s, or by contacting any member of the committee. The Club will be holding a Clothes Collection over next month. Bags of clothes can be dropped off at Clubhouse meeting room anytime until Monday 15th May

Well done to our adult team who had put up a great performance in the second round of the league Sunday evening in the Old Mill. Despite missing a number of regular regulars and carrying a number of injuries they keep going till the final whistle. A special mention to Isabelle Barrett who made her debut on the night . Team: Mary Ita Casey, Amy Ryan, Rebekah Daly, Katie Byrne, Rachel Greaney, Grace Ryan,Isabelle Barrett, Michelle Curtain, Sinead Hunt, Sarah O’ Connor, Carla Sheehy, Ciara Hunt, Rebecca Collins, Molly Ahern, Brid Hunt.
Their next game is away to Galtee Gaels on April 30th
County Minors
The Limerick Minor Panel which is made up of Athea players Evan Curry, Callum Buckley, and James Hunt were defeated by Tipperary on Thursday last in Rathkeale. Limerick were dealt a blow with the loss of captain Aidan O’Shea through injury . Evan Curry captained the side. Curry was described by one newspaper article as a ‘shining light for the youngsters, influencing much of what was good about Limerick , as well as scoring fours points’.
