CLOTHES: Smart recycling for Scoil Chorp Chriost, Knockanure. Pack a plastic bag of second hand clothes and bring it to Scoil Chorp Chriost, Knockanure on or before 20th April. We can then raise funds through recycling these clothes. All clean unwanted clothes and shoes accepted. No duvets, pillows, cushions or rugs. No wet or dirty clothes. So how about doing that spring clear out or perhaps you have unwanted clothes in your attic or spare room. Here is the chance to start that clear out and help our school in its fundraising initiative. Thank you from the Parents Association Scoil Chorp Chriost, Knockanure.
CHANGE in Mass Schedule. At a recent meeting of the Area Pastoral Council (with representatives from Listowel, Moyvane, Knockanure, Lixnaw, Iremore, Rathea, Duagh, Lyrecrompane) the provision of Mass for the 8 communities of the region was reviewed. After exploration of possibilities, given the decline in the number of priests (4 at the moment), it was proposed that, among other adjustments, Moyvane-Knockanure would continue to have its vigil Mass on Saturday evenings at 7.30 and morning Mass at 9.30 in Knockanure. Moyvane Sunday 11.00am Mass may be dropped so that the resident priest (for now) in Moyvane could provide Mass elsewhere in the area at that time. Before this arrangement is confirmed, your comments are welcome, preferably in writing, to Fr. Brendan before May 1st. They will be respected and included in any ultimate outcome.
ROSARY will be said in Knockanure during May on Tuesday and Thursday evening.

APRIL 16TH Divine Mercy Devotions in St. Mary’s Church, Listowel: from 3pm. to 4pm. It will include prayers, benediction and confessions will start at 2.30pm.

Between 1930 and 1938 Jesus requested numerous times a Feast of Divine Mercy. On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of Saint Faustina, the Vatican decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would henceforth be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.
Mass and devotions for Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Abbeyfeale, beginning at 2.30pm. All are welcome to attend.

DESMOND Castle; Desmond Castle Newcastlewest. Many of Ireland’s surviving medieval halls are in west Limerick. The Desmond Banqueting Hall in Newcastle West is one of the most impressive among them. It was begun in the thirteenth century by Thomas ‘the Ape’ FitzGerald, so named because of the story that an ape took him from his cradle to the top of Tralee Castle – and delivered him safely back again. https://heritageireland.ie/places-to-visit/desmond-castle-newcastlewest/

PEAT: The smell of a peat fire!
I could not believe how wonderful the fires smelled! Peat, (like other irish mosses) must have mystical elements. I have never, ever, been able to re-create it here. (Even with woodchips and scented timber.)

MOORE: I was born in Queensland the fourth of six children, Fourth generation Australian born on my mother’s side who were predominantly of Irish stock who came to Australia post the famine years (for the most part from the counties of Tipperary, Wicklow and Donegal). My father came to Australia from Dublin in the 1950s; his father was raised in Maam Connemara and later in Kilkee County Clare but the Moore family going back were from Kilmorna, later known as Kilmeany near Listowel. His mother, was a Barrett from Ennis, County Clare, that whole family very involved in those troubled years of the war of independence in Ireland. Also just out of interest I was part of a little Folk/Irish trio called Welder’s Dog for 10 years or so, with a brother of mine David and our friend Peter Harris, some of our music is still on YouTube I believe. If you listen to Castle Hill Patriots, that is my Dad singing Boolavogue at the start of that song.

Kennedy’s trip to Ireland in 1963, almost every US President has traveled to Ireland. This week, we welcome President Joe Biden, he’ll be celebrating 25 years of peace in Northern Ireland with us as well reconnecting with his Blewitt roots in County Mayo and Finnegan roots in County Louth.

P a r t i c u l a r s of a remarkable find in West Limerick nave been learned which are of considerable interest to antiquarians. At Knocknaboul, a bog situate midway between Abbeyfeale and Athea, a string of beads, numbering 100, and graduating in circumference from the size of a crown piece
to a three penny bit, made of Baltic or Scandinavian amber, were dug up by a labourer, in the bog, some ten feet below the surface, together with a number of Penannular Rings, and Fibulae. Most of the articles are as sound as the day they were deposited on the spot, which was then devoid of bog. The articles have been deposited in the National Museum. Some years ago, in the course of a turf-
cutting operation, about 400 yards distant from the place where the articles were discovered, a solid oak paling,

MOTHERS’ PRAYERS; Mothers Prayer Group was started in England in 1995
by two grandmothers. They felt led by the Lord to pray in a special way for their
children. Through prayer they learned that Jesus wishes all mothers to surrender
their children into His care. To take away pain from the mothers and to pour
blessings on their children. Mothers’ prayers have now spread throughout the
world and are in over 100 countries. There have been many wonderful answers to
prayer. Our local meeting is held in St Brigids Oratory, Church of Resurrection,
Park Road, Killarney every Wednesday from 10 to 11 oclock. This year we
celebrate twenty years with Mass at 9.30 @ Church of Resurrection on 19th April.
Any ladies with an interest in praying for children are more than welcome to join us.
