BITS AND BOBS

I recently heard that the month of April is World  Parkinson’s Month. I’m sure many of us know someone who has had Parkinson’s or has it presently .My own mother did and it used to annoy her a lot especially when eating and her hands couldn’t stop shaking. It seems now that great strides are being done with Parkinson’s through medication ,etc  and through exercise. It also emphasises the point that no matter what health problems one may have ,that a little bit of exercise every day to keep the bones etc working is so important to everyone, more especially for the elderly. So, with brighter longer and hopefully sunnier days ahead no doubt many will avail of our great walking track at the GAA pitch .

Also with regard to Dementia and Alzheimer’s it’s been proved that music is unbelievable therapy .It showed on a recent programme a lady who was a ballet dancer some years before she had Alzheimer’s.  She used to do all her Ballet moves with her arms and hands as soon as the music was put on. That she used to perform to it was real proof .

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Lane family of Beenanaspug, Kilmorna on the passing of Lizzie at UHK  last week .Many paid their respects at Lyons’ funeral parlour on Wednesday evening last. Burial took place after Requiem Mass in Knockanure on Thursday. May she rest in peace.

The death has also taken place of Frank Cotter of Laurel Court. Tralee and formerly of Cratloe West Abbeyfeale. He reposed at McElligotts funeral home Tralee and burial was in New Rath Cemetry. Sympathy to his family.

Many thanks is extended to all who gave so generously to the Church Gate Collection on Saturday evening last in aid of the Homeless .A total of 432 euro was collected and will be of good help to those looking after those who have no roof over their head.

The very best of luck to the Limerick Minor Team who take on Waterford on this Thursday evening in Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale in the next round. Athea have 3 players on the team; Callum Buckley, Templeathea, James Hunt, Coole West ,and Evan Curry, Dirreen. No doubt they would be glad of support in this all important game .

   THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

The Past cannot be regained, although we can learn from it.

The Future is not yet ours though we must plan for it.

TIME IS NOW-WE HAVE ONLY TODAY.
